Green Paradise Cottage Udawalawa

What a wonderful place to stay. Even better than the photos. The room was pristine and well equipped, with WiFi, AC, hot showers, mosquito nets and comfortable beds. The hosts were super friendly and welcoming and spoke very good English. The garden is beautiful and immaculately maintained, it really was a green paradise. The food was delicious, we tasted lots of different traditional Sri Lankan dishes with generous portions provided. The aubergine curry was a particular highlight. Highly recommend booking your Safari through the hosts, we did and it was a treat. Our guide was fantastic and he joyfully shared his knowledge and passion for animals with us. We saw lots of Elephants including babies and many other animals and birds, which we think was only possible due to his local knowledge. Don’t miss your chance to stay here if you’re in the area.

I can hardly put into words how much I enjoyed my two days at green pradise cottage. Everything here is just perfect. The cottage, the beds, the garden - everything is designed with a great attention to the detail. It really is a green paradise! The family took such good care of me that I felt absolutely comfortable and welcome. I had breakfast and also dinner. It was the best food on my trip and they took into account that I don't eat meat. I was able to talk to Sandura about so many topics and get to know the Sri Lankan culture better. For mine it was like a lesson for life :) Thank you for everything and being so heartwarming. I hope I can visit you again one day. My heart is filled with wonderful impressions.

If you are debating about where to stay near Udawalawe, no doubt, book here. They are recently opened so limited reviews but it’s a charming safari bungalow, the only one on the property, with a beautiful garden and thoughtful dining area for guests. Speaking of dining, this will be the best, most prolific food you’ve had in Sri Lanka. They really thoughtfully accommodated my vegetarian and gluten free diet with ease. There is a lovely river near the property you can explore and enjoy reading and relaxing between safari journeys and be well taken care of. They coordinated our safari, which was incredible! So many up close elephant encounters!, and helped us with transportation to them and away, making the whole experience care free and enjoyable. If you can enjoy a rustic safari cabin experience (well, not so rustic because there is a/c 😆) while being cared for by the sweetest family then look no further and enjoy Green Paradise.

Amazing small family run cottage, where you can fell yourself as owner of the tropical garden. Super friendly hosts, perfect local food. Safari service great as well. Unbeatable value for money and outstanding hospitality, highly recommend

I had a lovely stay at Green Paradise Cottage, the garden was so beautiful with interesting plants, and the family were really friendly. They gave me traditional Sri Lankan breakfast and also I asked for dinner in the evening which was so welcome having arrived at 7 and travelling by bus to get there. One of the family also ran safaris, so organised it through them really easily and I had an amazing time seeing a whole family of elephants by the lake-very lucky!

Everything about the place is amazing. Family running it is the sweetest, room is super comfortable with all the amenities needed, and situated in the garden of Eden. We had both dinner and breakfast there, which were both very delicious. And all of this at a real bargain price. Definitely underpriced for what they offer. Our only regret was not being able to stay longer.

Not a single thing.

One of the best home stays I have ever been to in Sri Lanka!! The family is so kind and careing, the food is amazing and the place is just beautiful with it's quite location in nature, right next to a calm river, very quite and safe neighbourhood and in walking distance to Udawalawe City (though we didn't really feel like leaving this place as there is everything you need there :) The Safari with Pasindu was also a Highlight (I did one before but this one was the best as his knowledge and thoughtfulnes with planning the tour as well a the respect for the animals is exceptional!)

The accommodation was super nice, we felt like we were in a jungle! The service was also great! One thing that we feel sorry about is that we did not go on a safari tour because our circumstances were really unfortunate that day. We drove from Ella and it was pouring rain so even though we protected our stuff (electronics) with waterproof covers it still got destroyed, we were soaking wet and didn’t wanna go on a tour in these weather conditions. We were just bummed and didn’t feel like we would enjoy the tour as much. But the owners were super nice about it :)

The place was very great, very beautiful garden. Very friendly and helpful family. The room is great, very quiet location, we recommend it. definitely try dinner and breakfast! The traditional dinner and breakfast were wonderful! We also booked a safari tour, the driver was amazing, he explained everything, you don’t need a guide when taking a tour from Green paradise, you can’t explain by the words how cool was it! Host family was very nice and kind. The house is very nice, many nice plants in the garden. Felt like comfy house in the middle of the jungle. Organised perfect safari for a very reasonable price. All the recommendations!
