The Hollies

Location was perfect for where our event was. Clean room and facilties

The location was OK in relation to where we wanted to be but it was pretty close to a major road which was quite noisy with the window open.

I'm sorry but this property just does not live up to the description on Booking.com As soon as we arrived I wondered why there was no identification on the house; why call it 'The Hollies' and then not bother showing the name on a house that just looks like all the other houses in the street. There was no people interaction; the door was opened by a man and a very yappy dog but there is no mention of dogs in the booking info. I was shown to a room at the top of the stairs and the man offered to fetch milk but didn't offer to help with any of the bags. The room was very very small and not the one in the picture and it was difficult for a person of a certain age to get round to the other side of the bed; many bangs of shins and toes on the bed frame. The furniture was 'pretty' rather than functional; who can sit on a 'glass' chair and there was no wardrobe. The fridge wasn't working either but luckily the milk was fresh so we could have a cup of tea later in the evening as there were tea bags and sugar but no 'treats'. There was no information in the room about the local area or local facilities to visit eg: restaurants for dinner perhaps and the separate bathroom although nice, could have done with a lick of paint. The bed was comfortable enough although a little small but I was disturbed throughout the night with the smell of dog and the chemical smell of the 'plug in' devices that were being used to try and hide it. I had to unplug as many as I could find as my husband has asthma and I was getting quite a headache. To top it all off there was no breakfast!!!

The male host was welcoming and helpful. Allowed us to park on the driveway. The bed was comfortable and the bedding was clean. There were tea and coffee available though we didn’t use them.

The room is not the same room as on the advertising picture. Furniture is different and it is a different room altogether. Struggled to get around the bed as little room from base of bed to wall. Could do with brighter lighting in the bathroom when using the mirror to put on makeup as it is quite dark. The property did have an unpleasant smell when we walked in the front door.

Everything! Was a great place to spend the night.

Location

Nice modern house with private parking in the drive a few miles from a motorway exit. Great for our overnight stay on our way down the M6.
