"Bad smell and heavy air"

We entered the house late. As soon as we entered, there was a stuffy and heavy smell that made it difficult to breathe. We opened the windows hoping the smell and heavy air would go away. But they did not. Afterwards, we left the house. We informed the landlord about the situation. In the morning, when the landlord checked the house, he stated that there was no similar situation.
