We found our stay at Chill Vibes quite disappointing overall. The hostel’s Instagram paints a picture of a lively, fun atmosphere, but the reality was very different. The place felt heavily overpriced for what was provided. Our room had only one working light, the hot water didn’t function, and the sheets weren’t as clean as they should have been all of which made the stay feel far below expectations. While some staff members were friendly and helpful, the service felt inconsistent. On the positive side, the air conditioning worked well, and it was convenient that the hostel organised tickets for the party. Those small touches were appreciated, but they weren’t enough to outweigh the negatives. In the end, the gap between the online image and the actual experience was too big. For the price charged, the value simply wasn’t there. Sadly, we wouldn’t choose to stay at Chill Vibes again.

Breakfast is nothing special and it’s just two hours. I stayed 7 nights in the deluxe 4 bed room. There was nothing deluxe about it. It’s next to the busy road, some construction and the worst to the reception. Some days the staff started playing videos with loud music at 7 am. the door between the dorm and the reception is not closing very well so you hear everything. The covered chill areas have not that much space, so when it’s raining it’s hard to find a comfortable place. Common Bathrooms are outside and open so you got bitten a lot while using them or shower. They are not very clean. But what I really really didn’t like is that you need to give them your passport when you check in and they keep it. I mean they keep it in a safe. But I will travel a lot the next weeks so I didn’t had a good feeling. And when the police is stopping you, you don’t have your ID. One girl didn’t want to give it and they said, that she can cancel the stay. The problem is, it’s not written anywhere before you book.

The social part was great really easy to meat people here

It is a bit pricey not just the stay, but also the things around it. And they ask you for a review while checking out, and give a free drink in return, I think that this is not ethecal so I do subtract a few point for it since I think there are a lot of fake reviews.

I stayed here for a few nights and absolutely loved it! The atmosphere is amazing — it really feels like a family. Every night there’s something fun going on, and it’s the perfect place if you’re looking to meet new people and be part of all the good vibes. The staff are super friendly and always willing to help with anything you need. I loved the place so much that I ended up extending my stay. Highly recommend this spot if you’re in Hiriketiya!
