Lovely place been three times now and we will be back

Nothing as all was well

Excellent position beside the river (Otters view). Brilliant facilities in the lodge. Very welcoming atmosphere. Nice and chilled holiday.

What was meant to be a relaxing holiday turned into a dangerous, exhausting ordeal. When we arrived Monday evening, we noticed wood shavings on the bedside table and bedroom floor. Tried calling management, no answer. On Tuesday morning (Day 2), we saw live wasps in the bedroom and tried calling, yet again, no response. That evening, we spotted the wasp nest outside the cabin and tried calling again — still no response. I have anaphylaxis, and the presence of wasps in the bedroom made it dangerous for me to sleep there – I ended up having to sleep on the sofa for safety. On Wednesday morning, with more wasps in the bedroom, we finally got through to the owner’s wife. My husband explained the situation, including that I have anaphylaxis. She assured us she’d sort something out. We waited, heard nothing, then went out. When we returned around 6 p.m., no one was around, the office was closed, and our calls again went unanswered. Then, on Thursday morning, my husband woke up covered in wasps and had been stung four times in bed. We made the decision to leave early — we couldn’t risk staying another night. The manager and pest control exterminator appeared outside. The manager immediately got defensive. He claimed he’d tried to come over at 7 p.m. the night before — we were in, and nobody knocked. He said he’d texted us that morning — we received no message. Then he disappeared again to finish a Zoom call. When he returned, we had a heated exchange. He was initially rude and argumentative, denied our attempts to get in touch, and even questioned why we stayed if the allergy risk was real. Only when we showed proof of calls and I told him I had a heart condition did he back down. We also discovered that all the cabins are sprayed every two weeks due to ongoing wasp issues — clearly, this is not a one-off problem. That’s a major health risk for anyone with allergies, vulnerable elderly or young children, yet there’s no disclaimer or warning given to guests.

Wow best place we have stayed. We stayed in apple Lodge, on arrival we were greeted by Karen who was lovely she's showed us about the Lodge and showed us how everything worked we never got the chance to meet Ian but I bet he's just as lovely as Karen. The lodge itself was immaculate it had everything you could possibly need the welcome basket with bread and lots of other essentials was a really lovey touch, the log burner fire was amazing. The bed was so Comfortable, the shower was amazing bathroom was huge. Hot tub was a bit of luxury. Wifi Could be a bit buffery and time but this was just on our mobiles, but being in a rural location you can't blame the hosts. the WiFi on TV was really good we had no issues all in all it was a great stay and we are already booking up again to take the kids and then again for ourselfs

The location was excellent very quiet, view from lodge over looking the river Ayr was very relaxing. Hot tub was great.

The entrance door difficult to close and lock, also patio door from lounge to hot tub difficult to close and lock. Mattress in room with large t.v very uncomfortable. Could not use log burner due to previous guests breaking door glass.

It was very modern. 2 good sized bedrooms both ensuit. Grounds were maintained. Area was peaceful. The river running behind the property was fantastic. Ian was lovely. Gave us a tour and had left a welcome basket.

The lights go out at 22.07. We like to sit on the decking listening to the water. We had the main lights on And a worker showed up and turned them off. Felt like we couldn’t go out on the decking after this time. The fire was broken when we arrived. Accidents happen wasn’t the owners fault they tried to replace. Just wasn’t able to use this feature. Unfortunately it was one of the reasons we chose it was for the fire and the hot tub.

Ian the host was Lovley very welcoming and helpful.
