The apartment has all the basic necessities, with Internet and comfortable beds. The water is very hot and the showers are powerful. There is a fridge/freezer and a small  washing machine, and even USB sockets on both sides of the bed. So, on the face of it, a nice apartment as described on the App.

This apartment is very hot....really, really, hot. You need to have the AirCon on constantly.  There is AirCon in the apartment, but in order to use it you have to recharge the electricity meter that specifically controls it. This involves going to a local supermarket and buying a voucher!  In all my years of using online room booking apps, I have never experienced this. It typically costs about 100zar for 24 hours, in addition to the rental cost.  Of course you could just open the windows. However, whilst the description mentions the mountain views, which are nice, it fails to mention the noisy road and bars right outside. The bars are loud late into the night, and then you are woken by the cars early in the morning. It is noisy enough with the windows shut! During our time, 3 nights, there was another curious noisy disturbance: Every minute or so there was a low vibrating buzzing/resonance for 2 seconds....all day and night. Not really noticeable in the day, but at 3am it was very irritating for this light sleeper. As is very common these days, owners are squeezing a two bedroom apartment into a one-bedroom space! This makes for very small rooms. The en-suite bathroom is so cramped there is no space for a door, and the toilet faces whoever is lying in the adjacent bed. Definitely no privacy! I am not a fan of security gates in addition to frong doir of an apartment. Why not just install a proier security door instead of having to unlock and lock door and gate to access/exit the apartment? Finally, there are the little annoyances, like blocked shower drains and faulty taps/faucets, ceiling fans that don't work, and the unreliable elevator.

The furnishings and facilities in the apartment are good. With the summer heat in Paarl, the aircon and ceiling fans are a relief.

The location is in an apartment block next to the busy main road and opposite a very noisy restaurant/pub. If you plan on getting any sleep, avoid booking this apartment. We were still lying awake at 2am from loud music, shouting and partying on a Friday night (maybe a mid-week stay will be better), and were woken again at 6am from cars revving and more shouting in the street below. My ear plugs did not help much, so the owners of this apartment will have to seriously consider soundproofing this apartment. To fit two bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, the spaces are also tiny, with hardly 30cm between the bed and the bathroom wall in the main bedroom. Okay, for one night, but not comfortable for a longer stay. The rental agents also need some training in customer service. They don't allow any flexibility in check-in and check-out times and I found them to be very abrupt and unfriendly in their communication, even though Alex tried to "wait patiently" when I was delayed and had to change my check-in time.

Was a bit cramped, previous guests had caused a bit of damage which hadnt managed to be fixed. Broken side tables and the like. Fan in main bedroom had broken remote with no battery, had to go and buy a fan. Was half fixed after a few days as we couldn't really get it to work properly. R250 per day for room to be serviced plus r250 for fresh towels seemed a bit steep to me. It wasn't terrible, probably just adequate.
