Riad Masaya

I booked this hostel because of the dorm that only has 3 beds. It was great, there was a separate shower and restroom and the beds were visually seperated. I‘ve been alone in the dorm most of my stay so privacy was no issue. The personnel was very friendly and helpful, there‘s free bananas and free use of kitchen :) AC works great!

While I was there, there was a problem with the deepwell. For 2 days we had no running water (but water supplied in buckets) and the following days there were works which was a bit annoying when at home during the day. But I don‘t think that will be a longterm-problem as water came back after these 2 days. I missed an outdoor-chill-area. The place to hang is indoors which makes it cooler but not as nice.

Staying at riad masaya was one of the best decisions I made here. I slept in the dorms, for some reason I was alone there the whole time. Had my own private space, organizing my stuff was comfortable, and there’s a locker as well. The shower and bathroom are separated and they are really good. Hot water always. Ate Inday and the rest of the staff are so welcoming and it makes the experience even better. It’s not on the main road but there’s still tuktuks passing by. The dorms are perfect for someone who wants quiet, comfort and privacy but at a good price.

There’s roosters calling in random hours and if you’re a light sleeper it might bother you.

Lorena and her staff were very good hosts. The kitchen is available with basic and good supplies to cook whatever you like. Felt very safe. Place was very clean. Location is not on the beach, but very easy to get to General Luna (town).

One night there was a power failure, but that happens sometimes in Siargao.
