Maka Hostel

The manager was very helpful in helping me a get a tour to local sites and it was an amazing trip. Breakfast was also amazing and location is good.

In my 6 weeks in Mexico I stayed at a LOT of different places, and this was by far one of my favorites. I spent a lot of time at larger party hostles, which this place is not, and it was a relief. Not too big, not too small, not too extravagant, not funky at all. The staff was great, the guests, the food, the layout and what the place has to offer is just enough to provide everything you need without being pretentious. The dorms have a cute little cave style to the beds that are dark, cool, quiet and private. Its unsuspecting and in one of my favorite neighbourhoods, next to one of my favorite bars. Highly recommended! Next time Im in Oaxaca ill be staying here for sure.

Maka is a great, social hostel which organises their own daily tours - so a great way to meet other people. The free breakfast was great and roof terrace lovely, with different spaces to relax etc. The shower rooms were amazing and always very clean and I never had to wait to get into one. Overall, I would fully recommend Maka Hostel.

My room - six bed mixed dormitory- was on the small side and was a bit awkward to navigate with big bags and others there etc. As such, I would actually recommend the bigger, eight bed dormitory as they seemed to have a lot more space to move around.

The staff, the location and the activities vary great 👍

At times the smoke smell could be felt for those who were none smoking

Lovely hostel with comfortable beds, the staff and volunteers were amazing, especially Lucia, who was super friendly, welcoming and arranged lovely dinners. Great kitchen facilities and terrace and excellent shower. Social but not too loud. Enjoy :)
