Sanku Place Hiriketiya

Everything was great! Sanku & his wife and familiy are super lovely and helpfull. They organized a scooter for us as well for a good price! Sanku could give you surf lessons as well. The house and room are very clean and well kept! Location is very good aswell within walking distance of hiriketiya beach. As a bonus right now they have 2 puppies! I would highly recommend this place!

Sanku and his family provided a beautiful, relaxing, clean haven. Slightly outside of the hustle and bustle of the main town (which suited us perfectly) but only a 10 minute walk to the beach through the jungle lanes and town. Sanku’s wife and mother keep a beautiful home and cooked some truly delicious traditional Sri Lankan food for us. The breakfast is generously sized and different each day. Sanku was incredibly helpful in sorting surf board rentals and organising transport for us. He recommended two local restaurants, Dahami and Priyanka, which were both amazing food and amazing value. The two cute puppies are an added bonus, we loved them. We can’t wait to come back and stay with Sanku and his family again. Thank you 🙏🏼

The best part of this amazing journey was to be with a family and witnessing the dynamics of a Sri Lankan family. The room was very good and quiet. The house was very clean. Breakfast was very abundant and delicious The area is 15 minutes walking from Hiriketiya Bay. Nice bathroom There is a laundry service available for 700LKR per Kg.

We enjoyed the very kind staff and the warm welcome. The bed was comfortable and the room was good.

The bathroom might need an upgrade. It was sufficiently clean, however not very comfortable.

Sanko’s family made our stay in Hiriketiya truly special. His mother prepared delicious meals daily, kept the place spotless, and even offered laundry service. The location is calm yet just a short 10-minute walk to the beach, away from the noisy main road, ensuring a peaceful night’s sleep. We felt very welcomed and enjoyed meeting Sanko’s wife and mother. Highly recommend this lovely place!

Exceptionally clean and new place. We stayed here twice. Water is hot. Very kind owners. Sanku is a surf teacher and can give you a discount on surf rental. His wife is an amazing cook and breakfast was delicious. You can also order a lunch/dinner for additional price to have a meal ready when you are back from your surf session. The place is walking distance from the beach, but you can also rent a scooter below market price for your travel to the beach and back.

Super friendly host, the nicest lady I’ve met so far. The apartment is recently renovated and very clean. Cute garden with many plans and coconut trees, we loved it already, but the hosts are planning to make it even better. The best part of our stay was the breakfast. It was the best Sri Lanka’n food we have tried so far, better than in a restaurant! Various too, so you could try different traditional meals. Highly recommend!

Staying at Sanku place homestay was an unforgettable experience! From the moment we arrived, he and his wife and family went above and beyond to make sure our stay was comfortable and special. The room was absolutely stunning—new, beautifully decorated, and spotlessly clean. What truly made our stay exceptional was their incredible hospitality. When we arrived, there was no boiler for hot water, but Sanku and his wife immediately took action, setting it up so we could enjoy hot showers. It’s rare to find hosts who are this attentive and accommodating! Every morning, we were treated to the most amazing breakfasts and freshly made coffee lovingly prepared by Sanku’s wife. The food was delicious, fresh, and clearly made with care—it felt like starting each day with a warm hug. And Sanku gave as scooter(bike) for a great price! If you’re looking for a place that feels like a home away from home, with genuine warmth and excellent attention to detail, I can’t recommend Sanku place enough. They truly made our trip memorable, and we can’t wait to return!

Sanku and his family where super nice. The room and bathroom was clean. The breakfast was prepared by bis wife and exceptional. They asked us what we wanted for breakfast and we got it. The WiFi was better than in other homestays we visited. Sanku is also a competent surf teacher and he gave us a lesson for a compatitive price given that it was including Board rental an the tuk tuk ride to the beginners beach. He also hooked us up with a Scooter for a price below market rate (1700 instead of 2000). There where also puppies!!!!
