"Great place where to stay in Kurzeme"

Amazing location and very welcoming stuff. We were pleased that the hotel is dog friendly - our dog was welcomed there without any additional charges. Castle's park was also wonderful and perfect for a peaceful walk. We also enjoyed breakfast a lot.

The soundproofing between the rooms was bad, so we heard our neighbors very well.

Amazing and authentic experience in a very special place. The room was very comfortable, nicely furnished, with a beautiful view through the window. You can order rich and tasty breakfast for additional price. Do not forget to visit an interesting museum located in the castle.

"Nice place with flaws"

6.0

Sleeping in a castle overall is a cool experience. You walk through the museum to get to the rooms, so it's like you're actually in a different time. There's even a cute cat that lives in the castle. The room was big with fitting old furniture, as seen on the photos. The bathroom was quite newly renovated. There was a TV, different lights that made it comfortable.

A really really big issue was the shower/bath situation. There is only a very high bathtub, no shower curtain, nothing, that holds the shower head. The water pressure is partly so weak that it won't even flow through the shower head. The worst was the constant change of temperatures up to a sudden switch to almost boiling hot water which burned the skin on my thigh. We decided not to shower on our second morning. Another thing was the breakfast. You get asked upon arrival at what time you want breakfast - and you can only give one answer for the whole stay. We stayed friday-sunday and on sunday morning the breakfast room was very full, while the buffet is served on only one table. That means: lots of waiting, things were empty most of the time, especially sad when there aren't too many options. I don't understand why it's not served on 2 tables, maybe in L-shape, with more of everything - especially if so many guests announced to have breakfast at that time/the hotel is full. It appeared that the team is also short staffed, as they were so busy and guests had to wait long for coffee/tea. Another small thing: The cover on the bed and the decorative pillows felt and looked old and gave the room an outdated touch - just the blanket and pillows would look nicer - but that's a question of taste I guess. And just as a heads up: there is no room service and I wish there was just a bit more love to the room. A vanity-kit for the bathroom e.g. or just a small appreciation for the guest - especially considering the price of the room. Overall we sadly had a bad experience on our anniversary weekend and for us it was really not worth 120 € per night.
