Villa Mathe

Nicely furnished, spacious room with nice, big bathroom, excellent shower and comfortable beds. It was great that the room had a closet and a table, and it had great airconditioning: AC and ceiling fan. The family hosting was very nice and welcoming, they served us excellent and plentyful breakfast every morning (fruits, coconut roti, egg, tea), and could do our laundry for a reasonable price. There were always a couple of reliable tuktuks parking just 10 meters from the hotel, which was great. The place is just 2 mins walking from one beach, which was a very quiet one, and less than 10 mins from Turtle beach, where you find plenty of beach bars with sunbeds and you can spot turtles. We also found a great restaurant close by, Good Kitchen, with great service, wood-oven bakes pizza, and very nice decor.

The hotel is on the main road, which has the advantage of being easily accessible and also very close to the beach, but it was also quite noisy - which is no fault of the owners. But we got used to it, and you can always sleep with earplugs. :)

The bathroom wasn’t cleaned properly, there was mould on the curtains. But overall, good experience.

It is on a main road, but my room was at the back, so it was quiet. Big room and big comfortable bed. I slept very well. The wifi is good. There is a water pump that is quite loud when anyone uses water in the building, but it is turned off between 8pm until 8am. Breakfast is usually fruit and roti with coffee or tea. Lovely owners and family. The rooms are over a shop with lovely things to buy.

The water pump was a bit annoying.

The place was fantastic, 5 min walk to a cute peaceful beach. Breakfast was wonderful! There are a few shops around for your basic needs

It was a great stay in Hiriketiya. The hosts were extremely friendly and put a lot of effort into the breakfast as well. It was delicious.

Nice Bathroom, good shower, comfortable bed and a closet, which is helpful if you’re travelling with a backpack :)

The noise of the boiler on the roof. But they showed us how to turn it off before bed!

Good place and kind people

Nice staying with 5min walk to beach where nobody is. Very kind and friendly family, tasty breakfast. Better to stay here than Hiriketiya when you want quite location with empty big beach.
