"A clean and simple room for a good price"

8.0

The location was excellent. Safe neighborhood and not noisy. It was within walking distance of a good cafe for breakfast (Boma Cafe y Jardin). The facilities were very clean and the bed was comfortable. The blackout blinds worked great for the terrace door and street side window, very effective!

Staying in different places I have learned to appreciate the extra touches to make a room more comfortable. We stayed in room 5 of Casa Cheljo. I suggested to the staff that hooks in the bathroom would help to hang up the wet towels. Currently, there are no towel racks or bath hooks so we had to hang our towels over the bathroom door and over the back of a chair to dry them. Also, there is a small coffee maker in the room along with dishes, flatware, and mugs but no coffee was provided. We had to go to a nearby store to buy coffee, milk, and sugar for our stay of 2 nights and left the rest in the room when we checked out. I've stayed at many places that at least provide coffee in the room even if there is no breakfast service. It would be nice to have small, individually wrapped coffee packets to pop into the coffee maker, some powdered creamer, and sugar packets that hotel and restaurant suppliers sell. I suggest bringing an extension cord for your stay (which I always travel with) for plugging in any hair dryers or curling irons/flat irons as the only outlets are nowhere near a mirror in our room. There's one by the bed, another on the kitchenette counter to plug in the coffee maker, and another one high up by the TV screen. The only one in the bathroom is by the door light switch. While the blackout blinds for the terrace door and window were wonderful additions, there needs to be another blind installed on the frosted window that faces the stairway. The light from the stairwell streams into the room at night. While it didn't keep us awake, I could see that it might disturb a light sleeper. (No pun intended). Overall, we were pleased with our stay. The items mentioned above are minor and not deal-breakers but are nice touches to make a place more comfy and homey.
