Handmade semi basement

Very funky place, different than most places we stayed in Greece, for example the wall of the bathroom was made out of Bombay Saphire bottles! Even though it was partly under ground, there was enough light and because of it, the room kept naturally cool in the hot Greek summer. We arrived early but could enter as the room was ready. The hosts were nice and very friendly. The room had lots of space, a comfy double bed, but the sofa bed was somewhat hard. All in all a good place if you pass through Ioannina.

The location is in an uninteresting part of town and a bit of a walk to the centre of town. A positive is that you are in a quiet part of tow away from any (potential) noise. Parking (on the street) was relatively easy. What shocked us most is the state of many buildings and houses. Some are completely dilapidated, others in a very bad shape. It seems they either do not have the funds or the interest to make the area as a whole look a bit better. Even when walking to the centre of town, you see nice buildings next to ruins. When a waitress told us not to swim in the lake due it being polluted, on top of the fact that the visit to the castle/fort/mosque was not as interesting we anticipated, it made Ioannina a bit of an underwhelming experience. So, if you really want to visit the town or area, the "handmade semi basement" is a nice place to stay, but next time, we would keep on driving.

Beautifully designed! Walking distance to the old town.

The space and host were exceptionally generous, waiting for us to arrive in the middle of the night to give us the keys, offering us to use their gym, keeping our bags safe until our return. The apartment was surprisingly warm, cozy and authentic, perfect for one night or a whole week or two or three. Easy access to the center, safe, quiet neighborhood, lovely warm host - 10/10 experience.
