The property was closed for renovation. They refunded my money.

The renovation information was not shared until I arrived there.

No communication to resolve my issue, ongoing efforts to retrieve my money. I didn’t get to stay at the property. It was shut due to building work. I arrived having travelled 3 hours. On arrival the property was having extensive building work done and I was told that the property was shut and meant to have been removed from booking.com. Pricilla told me there would be no issue with refund as booking.com are aware of the situation. From what I understood at first it was not her fault however it soon became clear that was not going to be the case. I still have not received a refund. I have rung booking.com on 8 different occasions over the last month and also contacted the property. Booking.com have told me they need comfirmation from the property that it was shut before my refund is issued but nobody has replied from Potton Hall. I have also made contact with the property themselves and had no response which is unacceptable given I have been sold a service which was not delivered. I had to book emergency accommodation which wasn’t even possible near the area, the price was expensive and now two accommodation charges have been taken with Potton Hall still not confirming or certifying my refund. It’s disgraceful that the property refuses to respond and also that booking.com have not taken action. I would recommend avoiding at all costs due to the charges and time spent on this issue which is yet to have an outcome.

The property is not ready as it is being renovated, we were not able to stay & this property should not be currently advertised on booking.com. I am sure that it will be a good place to stay when the renovations are completed.

Despite booking.com having taken payment in full and confirmed our booking by email, we arrived on the evening of Friday 18th to find the premises closed. Priscilla, the manager, was lovely but couldn't help. She confirmed we were not the first people to be in this situation and she has told booking.com that she is closed. It looks a fantastic place but my very strong advice is to ring the property in advance to confirm it is open and not rely on booking.com. Come on, booking.com - your customers expect better of you than this.

A lovely place, set in a beautiful location and hosted by a really friendly and thoughtful host, will be coming back when the weather is better that’s for sure.

We had a lovely long weekend at Potton Hall. Priscilla was a very attentive host and always on hand if we needed anything. We enjoyed long walks to the coast followed by a long soak in the hot tub as well as the steam room and sauna. The room was always warm despite us visiting in the middle of January. The continental breakfast was tasty, fresh and plenty of it to fuel us for a days walking. We have already booked another stay and looking forward to it.

Sadly the restaurant wasn't available for our stay which would have added to our weekend. We were told a week before though so not a problem and we ate at other places close by.
