THE FREEDOM

It was a very cosy, comfortable and clean property where we had our own living room, kitchen, bathroom and two bedrooms. Having space to spread out and chill was very nice. The host was very kind and easy to communicate with. Great value for money!

Property is located right next to the train line so if the noise bothers you, you may not like it here, but we found it mostly fine!

Ideal for a longer stay, perfect for a few days too. The kitchen, fridge, table and chairs are a bonus! Located away from the busy main road we enjoyed watching the birds and squirrels in the trees from our balcony. The apartment is above the family house, the family were very kind and discreet but there if you need anything. We could come and go unnoticed. Train lovers get the bonus of passing trains during the daytime. There were plenty of power points around the room that isn’t always the case in Sri Lanka. The bed was large and comfortable.

if you don’t mind the noise of the train passing nearby, it’s a very good place for you

The room is large with a big bed, table, chairs, small cooker with cutlery etc and a kettle. Quiet fan. Mozzie net. Patios front and back with lots of windows to catch the sea breeze. Water pressure in the shower was good. Property is not exactly beachfront and doesn't have a sea view but it's only a short walk to a safe swimming beach. It is next to the train line, but the trains are infrequent and don't run all night, the 1st one is about 4am and passes quickly. The area has a village feel to it with people sitting and having conversations across the tracks! Everyone is very friendly and we really liked our experience at The Freedom. It's super close to town centre too.

Great room in Hikkaduwa, very spacious and clean and although no AC there is enough airflow from windows either side of the room that you don’t need it. Owners are really nice and also will do a bargain on laundry

The trains are earth shattering loud - they run once an hour finishing at 9pm and starting again at 4am. Not a reflection on home stay obviously but it is something to be aware of when booking
