This was the best hotel I have caught in The Bijagós so far, the view, location, staff, rooms and incredible attention to details. The owner Mimi is super welcoming and always make sure to check on all her guests, we spent a lovely night at Cajou and decided to extend our stay for a week. I am definitely coming back to enjoy this environment again. Bonus note: the excursions organised by Cajou are a must try if you want to experience the real Bijagós wild life and culture! Our stay here was nothing short of unforgettable. The host, Mimi, went far beyond anything we could have wished for—her care, support, and genuine warmth made us feel at home from the very first moment. The entire staff was incredibly friendly and supportive, always ready to help with a smile. The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful, exactly as shown in the photos—if not better. Every detail is thoughtful, and the atmosphere is both relaxing and charming. We also had the chance to enjoy their dinner, which was truly exceptional. The food is high-quality, fresh, and simply delicious. The Bijagós Islands were a very positive surprise for us. They are absolutely worth a visit—peaceful, authentic, and full of natural beauty. The hotel also organizes tours, including the unforgettable experience of seeing turtles nest during the right season. This stay was the highlight of our entire West Africa trip (Senegal, Gambia & Guinea-Bissau). If you're hesitating about going, just do it. Mimi was incredibly supportive with all transportation arrangements, and they offer a shared boat every day to make arriving and leaving easy and comfortable. We can’t recommend this place enough—it’s a rare gem and an experience we will always remember.

We had a little bit of back and forth on the boat transport to the island but I believe it was just an exception that day. It is a remote island, so this is part of the game. And honestly, the host was so supportive, kind and welcoming that this was not a problem at all in the end. And on the way back it was super smooth and we left with great memories. So go for it - you will love it
