Wellworth Ngorongoro O'ldeani Mountain Lodge

This lodge is truly exceptional. We had an incredible time, and the staff were absolutely wonderful—friendly, attentive, and genuinely eager to make our stay special. The charm of the place lies in its old-world style, which may not be for everyone, but we found it to be part of its unique appeal. Don’t be swayed by outdated or negative reviews you might find online—this place is far better than some might make it out to be. While the lodge has a more classic, traditional vibe, it’s incredibly well-maintained and filled with character. Every corner reflects the rich history of the place, and despite its age, everything is in great condition. It’s clear that the management takes great pride in preserving the lodge while ensuring it remains comfortable and welcoming for guests. The food was consistently delicious, and we thoroughly enjoyed each meal. The atmosphere, both in the lodge and the surrounding area, made our stay unforgettable. If you’re looking for a place with character, warmth, and a personal touch, this is definitely the place to stay. It’s old style, yes, but in the best possible way, and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable experience.

Our experience was mostly great, but we had an unfortunate incident with our driver during our safari in Ngorongoro Crater. Instead of focusing on the wildlife, he took us on a 30-minute detour to a Maasai village, trying to sell us a “Maasai Experience” for $100 per person. He called it “little money,” but it quickly became clear that the villagers wouldn’t benefit from this fee—it was more about him earning a commission. We declined, as it felt like a rip-off. Despite this, we still enjoyed the safari, but this experience did leave a bad taste and is something future visitors should be aware of.

As we stayed at Lake manyara Kilimamoja the day before where we had a bad experience over the food, we mentioned this to the staff and the chef and the full team offered us the possiblity for a private dinner in Boma! waw, what a superb experience... also the welcome animation, the music, the dancers, the room, .... everything was perfect! Thank you.... special remark for Neema who did everything to make our stay so pleasant!

Nothing at all! we had a lovely stay... allthough we would mention that our suggestion would be to work with an a la carte option next to the buffet.
