Riad Dowaya

Nothing in this world is perfect but this place came close. Do set your expectations correctly, you are staying in a private Riad, not a big public Riad with many people. This is also not a big hotel. This is more like a bed & breakfast elegant and beautiful home. Muriel the owner is very sweet, caring, kind and has a down to earth personality. She is French and speaks & teaches Spanish and a little bit of English. Fatima is the Riad attendant that comes daily to take great care of your needs! She cooks breakfast, cleans and can also cook dinner if you reserve it ahead with Muriel. They both work together to give you the best experience. The location of the Riad is great so it’s not too close to the chaos but not too far either. You can walk through the souks and reach the Ben Youssef in 10mins! This place is a gem and I’m so lucky to have found it. The people here are very kind and Fatima always welcomes you with a smile whether she is cooking or cleaning. They are honest and very gracious hosts. There is parking about 10min walk from the Riad which was only 90 dh for 3 full nights. Muriel recommended the parking named Babylan. They have WiFi in the middle part (1st floor) but slower on the main floor of the Riad. They have been trying to get it fixed but the repair man may need to come back and fix again. Although, the WiFi is very sufficient for us since we have a really cheap SIM card. 50 dh is 6gb of internet. So Wifi really is ok for when we needed it. The Riad has a lot of bathrooms and comfortable rooms. They have plenty of birds that visit the middle section. So it feels very natural especially when we wake up to the sound of the birds. They have a beautiful terrace at the top where we ate breakfast daily. Fatima is a great cook! The trees & 2 big umbrellas upstairs in the terrace make great shade. The washer is very convenient being on the top so you can easily fry your clothes.

No big problems but the public area outside is a bit smelly & dirty but that’s normal there. Sometimes we had some cockroaches come in the bottom room.

We had a wonderful relaxing stay at Riad Dowaya. A beautiful riad,clean,bright and airy. Gorgeously decorated in the traditional Moroccan style, very comfortable beds,lots of hot water,delicious breakfast each morning. Great communication with the owners. A fabulous riad!

The Riad is absolutely beautiful, and the pool is perfect for cooling off at the end of the day. Benoit, the owner, is incredibly friendly and generous with his time - he went above and beyond when helping us to enjoy our stay, and Fatima created delicious breakfasts for us every day. We loved everything about our stay here and will be back!

Benoit and Muriel have put a lot of dedication to make this place a really enoyable home to stay in. Above and beyond service!
