The people were really lovely and helpful. They helped us work out the sleeping arrangements, food, transport etc. The staff were very friendly and warm! Love them. The breakfast was amazing and delicious. True authentic Japanese cuisine. The bedrooms were beautiful and had lovely futons. Best sleep ever! A quick walk outside and we were between snow, beach and the ocean - most amazing scenery. We were really in need of a good stay to rest and recover, this was the perfect place to rejuvenate. Highly recommend this place and would come back!

Okay, the onsen is OK. Breakfast is nice! Room is acceptable. We enjoyed the traditional Japanese breakfast, but our twin room was small. Sure there's a view, but it's not a million dollar view. The tatami rooms are much larger FWIW. The seashore is just outside, nice for a little walk and lovely sunset or for the kids to make sandcastles. That's it.

It's difficult to get to. It's expensive for what you get. There's miscommunication. Been to many onsens, this doesn't deserve the price. The entire community is centered around this onsen because there's little else to do. You'll see all the oldies in the morning and all the blue collar folk in the evening. That's not bad, but they're paying ¥600 for the onsen and we paid ¥12,000 per person. The room and breakfast ain't worth that. It's better to camp in the park nextdoor for FREE like the regular folks and pay the ¥600 for day use of the onsen. Really, people pitching tents or sleeping in their little campers FTW! 💪 Or better yet, just go directly to Lake Toya or Noboribetsu. You'll have Onsen + Volcano Lake, Onsen + Volcano Valley... AND it will be cheaper and include breakfast too.
