The Granary

This barn conversation is stunning. So fresh and modern but with all the charm you would expect. The facilities are lovely and everything you could need for break away.

There was nothing we didn’t like. The only thing we may change due to the time of year was a roof over the hot tub but apart from that it was perfect.

Our stay at The Granary was a welcome opportunity for relaxation. The hot tub was a delightful addition, and the thoughtful gift basket was a lovely gesture. The cottage is truly stunning, and the location was ideal, particularly if you are seeking a remote and relaxing getaway to decompress from a hectic lifestyle, as we were. As medical professionals, this break has been long overdue.

However, my reduction in the rating reflects some aspects that fell short of my expectations, particularly considering the price. The cleanliness of the property presented a challenge. I found it necessary to thoroughly clean the entire cottage before we could settle in, including the extractor fan in the ensuite. While some insects are expected in the cottage's location, the fly infestation was problematic. Deceased flies were lodged in the door frames, and the walls were marked with flyspeck and squashed flies. The mop had a musty odour, the dishwasher emitted an unpleasant smell, and the oven showed signs of wear and food debris. It appeared that the windows had not been cleaned for quite some time, and the garden had not been swept. Furthermore, the outdoor furniture sustained damage before our arrival, with broken plastic components on the frames, which resulted in our dogs chewing on the pieces. Consequently, we had to restrict their access to the garden. Furthermore, the garden's nighttime illumination was inadequate due to non-functioning light bulbs, making it challenging to fully utilise the hot tub in the evening without sufficient lighting. The occupants of the adjacent cottage, while not overtly disruptive, generated a level of noise that detracted from the desired tranquillity of the environment. The family unit was extensive and often heard shouting and using colourful language demonstrated during late evening and early morning hours. Overall, the stay was pleasant; however, addressing certain cleaning aspects would enhance the guest experience, preventing the need for excessive cleanup during their stay. Additionally, the inclusion of garden furniture would be greatly appreciated, as the existing pieces we're damaged. Moreover, the installation of more private fencing would assist in preserving the separation between properties.

The cottage was stunning. It had everything we needed and more. The location was wonderful as well. Definitely be back!
