Durbanville Pool House

I had a special request for earlier check in due to unforseen circumstances and the host exceeded my expectations even though there had been prior guests she acknowledged my angst and prioritised the clean. I was able to check in at 11:30 which was remarkable and so so accomodating given my situation.

The pictures look NOTHING like the place. The description is misleading as it looks like a two bedroom place but when you book, they give you only one room. Garbage was blowing around in the yard and the pool is by no means clean. The owners don't show their face and send the domestic worker to let you in the property.

Perfectly located for my business meetings. Being able to work undisturbed and the variety of TV and internet apps available with good reception was a plus point to me. I really appreciated the fact that I was notified that I left my travelling keyboard in the unit and that I could fetch it and that I did not need to replace it. Thank you for that.

I was not informed about the gate that was not automatic and was guilty of unknowingly putting the residents and guests in danger due to an open gate. I could not lock my door from the outside and had to leave it open with only the security gate locked and the security door needs new wheels...it was difficult to operate. There was 1 rooibos teabag and it was clear that the station was not restocked for a 2-day stay of one person . The utensils were also a mix and match. Not acceptable. I had to boil water to wash dishes as there was hardly any warm water coming from the tap and the cold water was a small stream of water. There was only 1 drying cloth..old and too worn for a guesthouse and pretty useless as a drying cloth. The shower head needs replacing, water sprayed in all directions. I suggest that the wall heater gets replaced or removed. It really does not look nice. The gas heater's flint needs replacing. One thin bedspread with one thin blanket is not enough when it is so cold. I suggest that guests are told to bring extra blankets. Please, this report is not to criticise, but due to me travelling very often and mainly staying in guesthouses it was bit of a shock. If it was not for all the things above, I would have asked to stay another three nights as I only left Cape Town the Sunday. I'm afraid that these types of reviews will harm your rating and business and therefore I prefer that this review does not get published but rather be used as advice and to avoid poor reviews.
