Newark Central Cottage

Was not clean- mould in shower, water on the floor in the bathroom when we arrived, they asked us to pay another £200 security deposit. There was one half roll of toilet paper, no heating, the bin was full and over flowing, the garden was disgusting and over grown. There were hand prints on the walls, scratched and chipped paint, the towels (of which they supplied 3 for a booking of 5) were not all clean. There was a bed cover and pillow provided with no covers so we had to go out and buy our own, there is no washing line and the clothes airer at the property was missing pieces so couldn’t be used and the bathroom door doesn’t shut. We also had a previous renter turn up angry because he stayed a fortnight before had and was waiting for his items to be returned and spent 4hours outside waiting for someone to help him so we had to call for him to be able to start making some kind of progress. Very disappointing. Not as advertised at all.

It is a good location within walking distance of Newark town centre and also a nice park. The kitchen was fine although no dishwasher. The beds were reasonably comfortable and the bed linen and towels provided were clean.

Parts of the property were not in good condition at all - there is rising damp in the downstairs and in parts almost bare plaster. The bathroom is very cheaply done with a poor shower with hardly any pressure and the sink tap is difficult to use, going from zero water to full blast after turning it lots of times. The back of the sofa downstairs is broken and needed to be propped up against the wall when using as a sofa and not sofabed. There was only 2 forks, knives and spoons in the cutlery drawer when we arrived but upon reporting this I was advised to purchase more and would be reimbursed when sending in a receipt which I still need to do. Overall some minor and inexpensive improvements would be good - coat hooks by the front door, towel hooks or a towel rail in the bathroom etc

Great location, easy to find. Cottage had everything that we needed and was lovely and warm.

Beds could do with a mattress topper, as springs starting to poke through. Water pressure needs addressing. Rubbish bins out the back have been poorly managed and were all over flowing. Television was very glitchy, quite often without a signal.

Great location and well fitted out little cottage which looked newly refurbished.

Unpleasantly surprised to discover we needed to pay a £200 deposit on top of the listed costs. This is in the small print of the terms and conditions but I (foolishly) didn't read them all in detail.

The house is modernly decorated and has a brilliant kitchen, which is fully equipped with an oven, hob, fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle and sink. The bedrooms are a good size, each containing two beds that can be joined or separated. The house, especially upstairs, feels homely. The central heating warmed the house quickly. It was easy to park our car almost directly outside the house. It was easy to check-in and access the keys to the property.

It was lovely and clean in a quiet area very peacefull great accesss to shops

There was not enough cutlery. No bags for the bins and could do with a TV in at least one of the bedrooms upstairs

With exception to the bathroom the property was tidy and presentable.

The shower had hardly any pressure and at times dropped to even low levels. It also leaked, a lot! We left the premises a day earlier than scheduled over the shower issue. Bathroom window sill needs cleaning & repainting as it’s rotten.
