GBI really did want to love this guesthouse. Set in the gorgeous little village of Narcheng, you are in the heart of a lovely little community in a very rural location. Bear in mind that you will have a significant walk on your hands to and from Tatopani, and going to the guest house is uphill. The exterior of the guest house and it's beautiful garden look lovely from the outside. The views of the mountain and the nearby waterfall are excellent.
Oh dear oh dear, it all went so horribly wrong. The inside of the property is dark, dingy and frankly creepy. Apart from the bed linen, the room was grubby, had clearly not been cleaned properly in some time, with fairly bad spider webs on the walls and ceiling. The beds were rock hard, with a wafer thin mattress that might as well not have been there. When I arrived at the property, nobody came out to even acknowledge me, despite my calling into the house. Initially I had thought nobody was home and perhaps they would be back shortly, but only investigated further upon hearing voices from inside. The disinterested youth who begrudgingly showed me my room clearly could not be bothered, leaving a confused looking old lady who didn't speak a word of English. That is not her fault at all, but it does not make life easy for guests at a Homestay. The shower and the toilet area were grubby with fag ends dumped there and belongings that had been left in the room I was given that had probably been left by the guest prior to me who was also in a hurry to get out. I'm no first-world princess and have stayed in some pretty shady accommodation in my time, but this really was poor. Nobody was even there for when I left, other than disinterested youth who was still asleep. The frustration is, this place really COULD be great, with a bit attention and effort given to the interior, smarten it up a bit and run by someone who actually gives a damn. As it currently stands though, I could not recommend this homestay at all.
COThe guest house is very nice. It is located in the peaceful town of Narchyiang, where you can visit a waterfall and natural hot springs. The guest house has confortable rooms and the food is delicious.
