Amazing Tuscany Window

Sehr grosses Haus, stilvoll eingerichtet, für zwei Personen fast schon zu gross (ist aber nicht negativ gemeint!). Küche ist komplett ausgestattet, ausser Spülmaschine, Herd, Mikrowelle, Kleingrill und einem riesigen Kühlschrank auch mit Bestecken, Töpfen, Gläsern, Spülmaschinentabs, Küchentuchrollen usw.. Einfach alles, was man für eine grosse Familie in einem Haushalt in der Küche braucht, sogar div. Lebensmittel (Salz, Zucker, Mehl, Kaffee, etc)! Zur Begrüssung stand auch direkt schon eine Flasche Wasser mit Gläsern parat. Handtücher (auch in den beiden Bädern) sind mehr als ausreichend vorhanden. Eigentlich muss man, ausser persönlichen Utensilien, nichts mitbringen. WLAN ist im ganzen Haus gut zu empfangen, dank zweier Router, auch wenn die Internet-Verbindung im allgemeinen nicht so toll ist. Im Untergeschoss gibt es einen fest verbauten, kleinen Safe. Der Ort Montemassi ist eines jener urigen Toscana-Dörfer mit einer Mischung aus vielen gut erhaltenen bzw. renovierten alten und einigen etwas neueren Häusern, insgesamt sehr schön. In der direkten Nachbarschaft gibt es einige Hunde (kein Lärm!), Arturo war z.B. mit seinem Frauchen jeden Tag oft unterwegs. Im Ort insgesamt gibt es viele Katzen, wie in der Toscana eigentlich üblich. Auf dem Übersichtsbild von Montemassi ist das Ferienhaus das dritte von links ganz unten, liegt direkt an der (recht ruhigen) Straße. Direkt daneben ist eine Pizzeria, hungern muss man also nicht. Obwohl ich mich darauf vorbereitet hatte, mit meinen rudimentären Italienisch-Kenntnissen eine eher langsame Konversation führen zu können, fiel die Kommunikation insgesamt sehr gut aus, da Giuliano, der Vermieter, sehr gut Englisch spricht. Er war auch insgesamt sehr freundlich und erklärte alles genau.

Es gibt keine richtigen Bettdecken (als wir da waren, war es noch recht kühl, heizen war lediglich per Klimaanlage möglich), es liegen nur dünne Laken auf den Betten. Aus den Sammelsurien in den vielen Schränken im Haus haben wir uns dann etwas zusammen gesucht. Die Internet-Verbindung ist nicht sehr ergiebig, teilweise Downstream-Raten von unter 10 mbit/s; WLAN ist aber im ganzen Haus, dank zweier Router, gut empfangbar. Auch die Mobilfunkverbindung war im Haus etwas zögerlich. Dies sind aber Dinge, für die der Vermieter nichts kann, es liegt schlicht an den Providern! Die Fliegengitter sind überholungsbedürftig.

Great view from the balcony. A three bedroom house that looks like we walked into the 1950s complete with furniture from the period. The castle ruins are amazing.

Quirky features. Old power points with thin holes that needed special adapters. Which were provided on request with thanks. Very Limited food options in town.

A very enjoyable stay. We spent Easter with our family in Tuscany. The location is in a quiet medieval hilltop town, close to the ruins of a castle. There are two restaurants and a shop nearby. No problems with parking. It’s a convenient base for car trips. Dogs are welcome. The host was very friendly.

Spacious apartment with 3 bedrooms, huge kitchen with ecxeptional equipment, and of course the beautiful view. The place is easy to find, has a street parking space just outside the house. The hosts were very nice, had good communication throughout our stay. The small, historical town center as well as the castle itself is just a few minutes walk away. The small grocery shop and the restaurant in the neighbours are also excellent choices to eat and to have the daily fresh bread. The patio has a great position because it is shady and cool in the afternoons, so you can enjoy the fresh air or a barbecue even on the hottest days of summer.

It is not specified in the description that the 3 bedrooms and the bathrooms are not on the same level of the building. One bedroom and a bathroom is downstairs in a rather dark corridor, while the rest of the apartment (living-room, kitchen, 2 bedrooms and one bathroom) is upstairs (which is actually the ground level). We travelled with 3 kids, and it raised a question for a few minutes how we distribute the rooms, as none of the kids wanted to be downstairs in the bedroom, neither did they want that we, parents go downstairs and leave them "alone" upstairs in the 2 bedrooms. Finally we sorted it out, used the couch in the living-room, so at the end everything was fine.
