Doany Beach

L'hôte et sa famille sont au petit soin et s'intéressent à leurs invités. Ils nous accueillent dans leur monde et nous font découvrir les plus beaux aspects de la culture malgache et de la richesse de Nosy Be, le tout dans une pension magnifique, située sur une plage isolée et paradisiaque. Le personnel est très amical et compétent. La cuisine, délicieuse!

Beautiful location with warm and friendly hosts. Our favourite stay of our trip - pictures don’t do it justice. It was peaceful and beautiful and the kids loved the easy access to the beach and the lemurs that came to say hello at dusk.

Wonderful small hotel/guesthouse on a remote beach in Nosy Be. Transport from the airport involved both car and boat. We were a group of three, with my spouse, myself, and my 20 year old daughter. Our room and the grounds were absolutely beautiful, with traditional thatch roofs on many of the structures, and both covered and uncovered outdoor common spaces to have meals and relax by the ocean. There was a local band of lemurs. There was a beautiful stretch of pebbly beach with the huge tide shifts common in the area and amazing sunrise views. We ate all meals at the hotel, which featured local ingredients and seafood. The young chef checked in on diet preferences. We arranged all activities directly with Jean Michel, including a boat transport and guided walk in the Lokobe Nature Reserve (where we saw several different types of lemurs, chameleons and frogs, and a boa!), and a boat trip to Nosy Tanikely to snorkel a beautiful, living reef and walk up to the lighthouse on the top of the island.

We really liked that Doany Beach was off the beaten path, but for practical stuff like ATMs and markets, Helleville is a boat ride away, so requires planning. Jean-Michel stopped in Helleville on our way to Doany Beach to take care of practical needs on our way in.

On ne voit ce genre d’endroit que dans les films ! Un lieu magnifique, ultra entretenu avec beaucoup de goût et confortable. Tout est fait pour que vous passiez un séjour inoubliable. Nous avions même la visite des lémuriens le soir. Jean - Michel, Florida ainsi que tout leur personnel sont d’une gentillesse incroyable. Un lieu magique difficile à quitter

Splendido ecolodge immerso in un rigoglioso e curato giardino. Jean Michel e Florida sono degli ottimi padroni di casa che sapranno accogliervi e farvi sentire parte della loro splendida famiglia. Ospitalità, autenticità e affetto è quello che vi aspetta una volta varcata la soglia del Doany Beach. Non posso che rinnovare le nostre congratulazioni per l'eccellente lavoro che tutto lo staff svolge in questo meraviglioso angolo della riserva di Lokobe. Tornerete a casa arricchiti, dalle risate dei bambini del villaggio, dagli splendidi tramonti, dalle premure dello staff, dai manicaretti dello chef, dalla condivisione di esperienze, seduti davanti al mare, con altri viaggiatori e Monsieur Poupard. A rendere speciale un viaggio sono i luoghi che si raggiungono e le persone che si incontrano durante il cammino, state certi che Doany Beach saprà dare un grande contributo.

Nous sommes accueillis par Jean Michel avec une gentillesse à toute épreuve ( même après 2 heures d'attente à l'aéroport) et Florida qui sait inculquer des valeurs professionnelles indispensables au personnel pour un résultat qui s'apparente à un séjour de luxe avec les pieds dans le sable. En effet, il y a une vraie plage, ce qui est rare de ce côté de Nosy Be ou à Nosy Kamba, entourée d'une végétation extraordinaire de forêt dense et d'arbre centenaires. Les bâtiments ont une architecture traditionnelle en marqueterie de bois et toit de feuilles de palmiers. Les trois très grandes chambres meublées avec simplicité mais goût sont agréables et naturellement fraîches. Le tout est très élégant. Wi-Fi 100%opérant et équipement au top. Le personnel est à l'écoute : le cuisinier Matisse apprend mais il sait se plier en quatre pour répondre à vos caprices, Orlena est très professionnelle en maître d'hôtel et très douée pour les cocktails extraordinaires de fruits et d'alcool. Les Lemuriens sauvages nous rendent visite en fin de journée ce qui n'empêche pas de faire l'excursion au parc de Lokobe en dehors de toute affluence de touristes car la lodge est très prêt ce qui permet d'être les premiers sur place. J'espère revenir.....

מקום מקסים . מלא שלווה. נענים בחיוך לכל בקשה. עוזרים ביציאה לסיורים בסביבה וזה מאוד יעיל. אוכל מעולה . אנחנו אכלנו ארוחת בוקר וערב בעלות של 21 אירו לאדם וזה היה מצוין !! בחורה מקסימה בשם ornela קשובה ועוזרת במהלך כל השהות. ניתן לצאת ברגל לשמורה הקרובה (40 דקות) והסיור שם נמשך כשעה וחצי ושווה כל אירו . ההגעה והעזיבה רק דרך סירה ( בתשלום נוסף). המקום מנוהל על ידי זוג מקסים Jan michel and Florida שתמיד מחייכים ומשרים אווירה טובה. ו...בערב קופצים לביקור הלמורים מהיער הסמוך אז תצטיידו הבננה :)

אין דבר שלא אהבנו

Jean-Michel, Florida and the whole team are very helpful and kind. For example, we asked Jean-Michel in an email that we would like to stop at a "supermarket" to buy few things during our transfer from the airport to Doany Beach. He said okay. And soon he sent an email that he had noticed we would arrive on Sunday afternoon when shops are closed and offered that he buys what we need if we send a list, Wow. Doany Beach is beautiful with its white sand beach (no trash only shells) , crystal clear ocean in front of you, no dangerous currents, beautiful corals and fish for snorkelling (it is easier to find them in low tide). And there are no other tourists, maybe another family as guests. We could see sunrise even from our bed, we only had to open our front door facing to the ocean at 6 am. Brown (female) and black (male) lemurs are coming each evening or sometimes in the afternoon. We got bananas from the staff to make lemurs eat from our hands and let us stroke them (except their tails). As there are no shops or markets, you eat what you get. But do not worry, meals are perfectly delicious and sufficient and as a bonus, you eat in the garden with ocean view. Weather (sunny, 29-30 C, no rain during the day) and the ocean temperature were great. Doany Beach has filtered drinking water. We had no problems with WiFi. There is hot water in the bathroom. You may ask for how many night you should book. It can easily be one week. Lokobe Reserve is in walking distance, Jean-Michel came with us to show the way. It is worth checking Doany Beach's own website, where you see many boat tours offered (e.g. Lemurialand+Mont Passot+Andilana beach, Tanikely, Sakatia, Komba, Iranja, etc.). There are also many other program possibilities, like fishing, water skiing, face painting. You also see the prices on the website. Boat trip price is usually for the boat and not per person. Nothing. You know that Madagascar is not a highly developed country. When I transferred the first half of the fee it took more than a week to get confirmation from Jean-Michel that the money appeared on his account. I had my bank's confirmation that the money is at Jean-Michel's bank, but it also took days while it appeared on his account. As a consequence, we had to pay the rest of the booking fee and the different services in cash, partly in EUR and partly in local currency (ariary). It is difficult to calculate how much ariary you need (for entrance fees, for certain services to be paid in ariary, for buying souvenirs, for giving tips etc.) and if you need more, you have to go back to Hell-Ville to get ariary from ATM.

Great lay back place, first boat trip from harbor to get there, as the road is bumpy, nice family and very friendly people who help you with everything, good food, fresh fish out of the sea, nice trip to the jungle to see amazing wildlife, play petanque (but you can not win), really paradise
