Relais Il Mulino

This was the first time i had tried an agriculturismo as a place to stay and it really didn’t disappoint. From driving in through the orange groves and seeing the stunning stone buildings, it really was a stunning location. We were in Calabria looking at investment properties and this was a perfect base, the staff were lovely and the suite was comfortable. Breakfast was great and the freshly baked cornetto and other cakes were delicious alongside the farms own cheeses. The highlight had to be the home made orange marmalade, yummy. The restaurant was open and available for is every evening even when it was fully booked on the Saturday night. The antipasta, carpachio, pasta’s and stonebaked pizza’s we had over the 3 days were so good and you can understand why it is so popular with all the locals. Our visit was at the end of January with the oranges, lemons and grapefruit trees at their ripest and full of glorious colourful fruit, i’m pretty certain we were the only guests over this long weekend stay which is a shame as the weather was warm with crisp fresh mornings and evenings, it is definitely on the top of our list for future stays as our search goes on.

One of the only things was that the internet didn’t really work in the junior suite room we chose which would be difficult if working from there. Phone signal could be intermittent as would be expected in a rural location.

The breakfast were very good, nice variety and great cappuccino's, the location to what we wanted to see (Castello Ducale), the quiet grounds ( however I think it was because there were not many people staying there at the time), the restaurant was very good for dinner, the host took the time to show us the, entire complex (very nice young lady).

Maybe to have an elevator, there were 4 flights of stairs and the luggage was tough getting up there. Not a deal breaker but we're getting older and these types of things are becoming more important. Also it may not be as quiet as it was for us if there is a wedding or event going on, ( the property did warn us about this though).

A hotel in the middle of a field of orange and tangerine trees. Good breakfast with a plenty of cakes and sausages and cheeses produced in the own property, but with little variety of fruit. Dinner with delicious food around the swimming pool.

The path to arrive to the hotel is in very bad conditions. Almost all the nights, a wedding is cellebrated, with the respective noise.
