Faros studios Kalymnos Lighthouse

Very close to the port which was great as we got in at 110 am off the ferry. Very clean. Nice view of port. Our host was very helpful and kept in touch with us before and during the trip. Thanks again for letting us store our bags for a few hours. Everything was great. 😊

The apartment is in a fantastic position overlooking the port. Easy to find when we got off the ferry. Met by Anthi the host who made us feel very welcome. Everything you could need was in the apartment and there was even a welcome packet of biscuits, bottled water and ice cubes. The communication from Anthi was excellent. There is a small balcony which is ideal if you like people watching. Would really recommend this apartment.

The apartment is on the second floor so anyone with mobility issues may find the stairs awkward, especially with a suitcase.

This accommodation is very close to the ferry terminal for smaller ferries eg Dodekanisos - if you are getting a big ferry eg Blue Star, you might need the ferry terminal a few minutes walk further round the harbour. The accommodation is close to cafes and restaurants, but you will need to walk 5-10 minutes to reach the centre of town and a wider range of places to eat, drink or shop. If you enjoy sitting on your balcony watching the boats in the harbour or the sun rise and set over the town, this apartment is a good choice with its unrestricted view (see photos). Kitchen facilities are as described, and you will be able to make modest meals comfortably here. The host stayed in contact by WhatsApp and was very helpful with advice, eg about where to get drinking water (you must NOT drink the water from the taps, but there is a free drinking water filling station nearby) etc. A minor technical issue arose and she was very understanding and helpful.

We thought our apartment would be on the first floor, but unfortunately it is on the second floor, and the stairs are quite a challenge. The second flight of stairs goes round a very tight corner that is very difficult to navigate with big heavy suitcases. If you are unsteady on your feet, you might consider staying somewhere with easier access. We were disappointed with the layout and space in the apartment. There is very little room on the side of the bed next to the cupboards so it is difficult to get round. You can't really use the cupboards in the bedroom because they are too high, the doors don't open and close easily, and bedding etc is stored there. In fact there is nowhere in the apartment to unpack your luggage, and we ended up leaving our cases open on the sofa in the kitchen area. The kitchen area is cramped with a sofa and a table, so although it seems like a nice big space, you are constantly having to get round things. Both of us got bruised on the table corners. The apartment is nice and most areas are well maintained. The bathroom is perfectly functional, but that is the one room which would really benefit from an upgrade, as it is quite tired. Replacing the rusty old washing machine in the bathroom would be a bonus.

Loved our time at this cute apartment. It is compact and has all one needs. Wonderful view of the port. Excellent location as it is close to everything. Very kind owner who was very generous with the check in and check out times.

The location is very central, 6-7 minutes walking from the ferry. The view is very nice, you can see the sea. The landlord was very helpful, we forgot our stuff, she left it at the buffet downstairs so we could get it later :)

The toilet is very small. There is no wifi, I didn't notice it when I booked. There is a bed and a table, no couch. It is suitable for a one night stay but I don't think it is for a long time.

I had a wonderful stay at Faros Studios in Kalymnos. Overall, I would rate the quality of the accommodation as 8 out of 10. The studio was clean and well-maintained, deserving a solid 9 out of 10 for cleanliness. The staff were incredibly friendly and always ready to help, which made the stay even more enjoyable. The location is excellent, conveniently situated near the port, making it easy to access transportation and explore the island.

All necessary amenities were provided, ensuring a comfortable stay. While the overall experience was very positive, there’s always room for improvement. Nonetheless, I highly recommend Faros Studios for anyone visiting Kalymnos.
