Divine Room

The only thing we liked is the fact that it was early enough to get a ferry back to Faro.

Thanks to Booking.com Customer Service, who corrected the host's false "no-show" report. My partner & I booked "The Divine Room" expecting a serene, beachfront experience. What we got was a stark, disappointing contrast. What We Received: Arriving on Culatra Island (~3:45 PM; host's contact 15 mins late), we found accommodation vastly different from advertised. No beachfront access; it was rear-courtyard facing garbage bins. The "balcony" was too small for two people to relax. The room was substandard, like staff quarters. No 'soundproofing' as claimed – immediate loud restaurant noise. The thin, unsupportive mattress was like a camping cot. "Minimarket" and "evening entertainment" were non-existent. "Paid shuttle service" was never offered. Listing pictures didn't represent our room or the island area. Our Decisions & Difficulties: Discrepancies compelled us to leave "The Divine Room" immediately, with no other accommodation secured. We left on the 5:45 PM ferry, informing the host of departure/key location. SUBSEQUENT ISSUES: The manager contacted us, asking us not to publicize our negative experience, promising a resolution within 24 hours. This wasn't fulfilled. Instead, the manager ignored messages after reporting us as "no-show." When Booking.com contacted them, they refused to speak to us, stating the owner wouldn't refund and, regarding garbage, "you are on an island, there is garbage everywhere." This practice raises concerns about potential double-booking of a fully paid room which was available 24h after we left. The significant differences between the listing's claims and the actual conditions constitute a disservice to guests seeking reliable accommodation. The host's handling of the situation post-departure was disingenuous.
