Early birds

I had the loveliest stay at Early Birds! It’s so close to the beach and the dorm was really nice- all the beds have curtains and the mattress is super comfy. The hosts are really friendly & welcoming and taught everyone some local games! Also, the breakfast was some of the BEST food I’ve eaten in Sri Lanka!!

Rooms were clean, air conditioning worked well and the staff was very friendly and always on site

The lads running the place are sound out and very helpful. Breakfast changes every morning and is always nice. Comes with a fresh smoothie. Bit of a walk from the main street but very close to the beach

the property is simple yet has everything you need. not a social hostel but still a great place to relax and a good base to explore from. the location is perfect, 15 minutes walk from town and 5 minutes to the beach!! the boys who work there are some of the friendliest people you will meet, so layed back but very helpful for all of your needs. if your looking for some quiet time, 10/10 would recommend!!

The best staff. Friendly and helpful. The manager helped a lot with my personal stuff. Clean room and toilet. Location was great, quiet and calm vibes, slightly far (just 10mins walk) from the main street, perfect to skip the noise.

Just the light room need to be stronger cause during the day is a bit dark inside the room if you need to find your stuff.

The staff are very sweet and try to help you where they can. They also allowed me to checkout after my first night without charging me for the second night which I appreciated. Breakfast was included, and was tasty. The Ac was good

When we arrived, there was no staff around. It took about 20 minutes for someone to arrive, then despite having received confirmation about the booking, they couldn't find it and kept asking to see it again and again. It took about an hour to get shown my room. The room is basic but fine, however there are no lights inside the beds (behind curtains) so makes it very dark. There is also no wall behind you to lean against in the bed. There were lots of ants crawling in my bed, and another girl's bed. I know there is not much they can do to stop this but it is really off putting. The toilet seat was also broken. The wifi did not work, and after talking to people who had been there a few days, they said it never works properly. Maybe works for 5/10 minutes, then stops again. They said they were trying to fix it but it was really frustrating. There was also no service/signal so I couldn't even use my own data. The location is about 10 minutes walking from the main roads/streets which is fine, except the road you have to walk has no street lights and as a solo female traveller this can be quite off putting. Due to all of these things, I left after the first night.
