Villa Xiwan

Convenient location in a quiet neighborhood is sadly the only good thing about this place.

This is a weird cross betwen a hostel and a student residence in a state of advanced dilapidation and neglect. The kitchen is absolutely filthy; most of the surfaces are sticky or grimy. The stove looks like it hasn't been properly cleaned in years. Good luck finding a decent pot or pan. Fridges are overflowing with food, most of which is probably expired, to the point that the guests have no room to place their stuff. Overflowing trash bins everywhere. Upstairs bathroom was out of toilet paper for 3 days. Room interior is very dated. Empty alcohol bottles, cigarette butts and general trash on the shared balcony. Entrance is not secured. The back door was perpetually unlocked with random people coming and leaving all the time.

Very hospitable host, accommodation was clean, comfortable and modern with an amazing view. The Air Conditioning was working perfect, so great for the hot weather. Already thinking about our next trip, highly recommended.

Room was nice and spacious, beds were comfortable, we had a balcony, lot's of storage room, nice AC. Shared kitchen was big and fully equipped. Upstairs shared bathroom that was next to our room was nice, spacious, bright, mostly clean with great water pressure and lots of hot water.

Not all the linens were cotton, some were polyester. Decorative pillows were dirty. Balcony had no table or chairs so we couldn't sit outside, just used it to dry our clothes. There was no safe in the room for storing cash and valuable items. The shared kitchen has no supervision so for the first few days someone kept eating our food (even though refrigerator shelvs and cupboards are marked according to rooms) and the manager said "what can I do about it" and did nothing. Keep in mind only half the rooms have AC and you get no notice about it. We only had one key for the room and there were three of us. Manager called me "not normal" a couple of times, once for asking for a seconf key and second time for sitting in the garden with friends at 5am (we were here for the festival, Glitch). You always run out of toilet paper during the day and there are no paper towels in the kitchen. You get only one large towel, no hand towels in the room, we were there for 7 days, no changing of towels. The rest of the shower facilities were in the basement with no windows or any kind of airflow and smelled of mold.

The staff were really friendly and helpful. They prepped the room and had it nice and cool before we entered and were flexible with check in.
