The Retreat

It was absolutely gorgeous and there was so much to do. Comfortable bed, great surroundings, we loved the decking area and BBQ. In reality we loved everything about our stay.

Wonderful amenities, gas bbq with hob made cooking a breeze. Picked up some more eggs during our stay and certainly a convert! Very cosy and a great starting point for walks.

The Ducks - I loved watching them just peacefully swimming about The fish - so much fun feeding them, lots of character The eggs - I’m local to Macs and will now, no longer buy any other eggs It was very cool in the hot weather - the Retreat is surrounded by trees which makes for a lot of wind. The weather was too hot for me outside of the cabin as we walked through Ditchling, but it was very comfortable sitting on the decking The chickens - They were great fun, although, I only lasted a few minutes in with them as they were following me around and pecking, I had to get rescued by a young child - was hilarious.

It’s a very popular farm & the weather was nice - this meant it was busy and noisy all day and evening on Saturday. No ice box in fridge

Everything - this place is a slice of heaven!

Lots of thought has gone into this beautiful retreat. The small things like; a pack of marshmallows and sticks for the fire pit, 6 very yummy eggs from the chickens on the farm, blankets for the fire pit, food to feed the Carp, games and cards to play in the evening. The bed was comfortable and the shower was lovely and warm! The heater worked well and we were very cosy at night. We took some burgers and had a bbq sat by the fire pit it was just so lovely! My husband ran the Brighton marathon so it was the perfect place for him to rest and recoup after. Location is ideal as we wanted to visit the Seven Sisters cliffs while we were there. Will definitely be returning and recommending this place to our friends.

The location is stunning, private and made us smile from arrival til we checked out.

Really cute little stay, so cosy and was great to go back to basics! Loved having a fire each night, filling up on marshmallows. Fish are very active and was fun to watch them. Good amenities, clean and comfy bed!

We're an outdoorsy couple so nothing was wrong for us but I can see some people not being too keen on the outside shower! Good fun 😁

Lovely location, great to go to sleep and wake up at the water's edge, with friendly carp greeting us whenever we went on the decking. Nice covered gas barbeque (with a ring for a pan too). We cooked for ourselves both nights despite the weather being a bit damp. Outside shower is fun too.

Can't think of anything to comlain about! We were very happy there - would have been nice to spend more time at The Retreat in fact, but we were away in the daytime, doing a course nearby. Maybe signage could have been better once on the farm, as The Retreat didn't appear on the little information maps on site - but I suspect it may be the newest accommodation there, so that'll soon be sorted.
