GBThis is in a beautiful location. Rooms are basic and no toilet paper. Basics like tea isn’t included in the breakfast. The family are really nice.
Sadly, no one could organise any permits to walk up the mountains and Rickshaws were really expensive to go anywhere.
CAOur host did everything he could to make sure our small children were happy, that included carrying the smallest one 6km in the rain, and finding a local tour guide who spoke English. Wonderful family!
This is not the kind of place that is for everyone but why would you come to Meemure if you weren't expecting a little friction? This is not glamping - it is immersing yourself in a welcoming family in the most isolated village in Sri Lanka!

LKThe beds were nice, they had mosquito nets but when I was there I didn't have one mosquito bite. The bug free dining area. Bird watching from the deck. The phone service, for being where you are was fairly good. We went for a hike to the waterfalls, and it was epic!
The host will give you tea, food, and there is no ask as if you are buying it, there is no menu, no discussion of prices, and so the offerings come across as he is being hospitable. But at the end of the day there is a bill! I found that very deceiving. The host also has dogs that will bark all night at anything and anybody who walks the road. The ad says free wifi but I believe it was his phone's hotspot, which was unreliable and not always on.
AUWe stayed in one of the front rooms, and really enjoyed sitting on the balcony looking out at the mountains. Rawana provided amazing service, very attentive, we had Sri Lankan breakfasts lunches and dinners cooked by his wife which were so delicious- genuinely some of the best food we've had so far. Rawana also took us in his the Tuk Tuk to see the views of lakegala, guided us on a hike to diyakerella Ella falls, and drove us to the sliding rock swimming spot even though it was raining the whole time (4-5h)! Their 3yo son was also very sweet to hang out with. In terms of prices he charged us 10 000 for the Tuk Tuk and guide, and I think we paid 7-8000 for two dinners and a lunch for two. The rooms and shared bathroom were basic, clean and comfortable, the beds are a little hard, and there are no sealed windows (but we didn't have any issues with bugs) but none of that is a problem, it's in the middle of a jungle! Definitely recommend!
