A very nice host and good room

It was the cheapest private room I could find. It was a bit far from the bus station, as despite being a bus stop right outside the hotel, most buses don't drop off or pick up there. The room was quite spacious, old style, cozy, comfortable and practical. It had good lighting, a desk, chairs, kettle, water bottles, toilet paper, shampoo, soap and big towels. Nice spacious attached bathroom with piping hot water. The Aircon worked well. Everything was spotlessly clean. A friendly and sweet old guy with no English, checked me in. Superb Wifi. Excellent views from the small common balcony.

I could have wished for a drying rack for clothing, because, yeah..... sometimes it really rains here.

Good location near sun moon lake

A very basic, dated and run down place. We were given a freezing cold room with tiled floor and no form of heating at all. The proprietor told us that he didn’t have any heaters at all. As we complained, he moved us to another room with wooden floor, but had no windows nor access to fresh air. A bit better, but still really cold. It was warmer outdoors than it was in the room. We actually went out for a drive in the car to defrost. The second room was not cleaned properly and had drops of urine and hair in front of the toilet 🤮 This room cost me more to book than a room in a decent and a comfortable hotel in the heart of Taipei 🤔 The proprietor could easily buy ceramic electric heaters which could warm up the room in minutes and would not cost much in running costs. But I believe he is mean and penny pinching, at the cost of keeping his clients uncomfortable. It is inhumane and probably illegal to rent out rooms without access to fresh air and with no heating in the winter. These are health hazards. I shall write to Agoda and ask them to erase this hotel from their books, it is not doing their image any good.
