For your halfway stop from KZN, this is the ideal place for overnight. Katrien is the very friendly host who has suggested a nice restaurant just around the corner at the Spar centre Clean and every thing you need for overnight available.
Harrismith Municipality can for sure give attention to the roads in the town.

Protea self catering is just like the pictures. It has everything you need.. From tea and coffee to towels and extra blankets. Very near to the shops, mosque and petrol station. We really enjoyed our stay here. Would definitely be back.
An aircon would be nice or at least a fan or two as it gets really hot at night.. The dog barking at night and the chickens crowing early in the morning,It was a bit of a problem for us as we have small kids.
