Comfortable and Friendly Apartment

The apartment was nicely decorated with art work, travel pictures, pretty cushions, bedding and furniture, and so it had a calm and relaxing feel. There were balconies and facilities like kitchenware, laundry line, etc. It would have been nice if the washing machine had instructions so we could use it--it did not look intuitive at all. Also the gas stove could have used instructions because the gas doesn't work unless a handle on the wall is used, so it took a while to figure out. We would have loved to stay longer except for one HUGE thing--Wifi did not work.

It was advertised with WiFi in all areas--which we were counting on to do route planning because we had no phone data. But there was no Wifi & the host knew about this but did not disclose it beforehand. When we arrived and asked, he said he knew the WiFi did not work and his only solution was for us to go across and use it at a corner bar with 3 seats. With little children in tow, we couldn't spend time in a bar. And so, with no working Google Maps directions, we wandered from one place to another trying to find the right bus stop. The host had taped a large map of bus routes to the dining room wall, which helped in a minor way, was no replacement for Google Maps. By chance in our wanderings, we found a McDonald's with Wifi. We had allocated half the day for a trip to Grotto Gigante and the other half for Trieste sightseeing, but the Trieste part was just dragging kids around hot streets lost, and accessing WiFi in McDonald's. Also the check in instructions were for a different building and had we not called him, we would have had no way to access the apartment. Finally, the pictures listed show the flattering parts of the apartment but omit the non-flattering parts like the taped up broken glass, broken tile, graffiti on the back of the front door.
