Loving Strangers Hostel

My time in Pico was just that… a quick logistical stop to catch a flight. I chose @lovingstrangershostel mainly for the location, didn’t really look much into it beforehand. But sometimes that’s exactly how life surprises you. In a world that feels more and more standardized, rushed, and disconnected, I didn’t just find a hostel — I found a home. I was welcomed with such natural and genuine kindness that I instantly felt: this place is rare. Or actually… it’s what should be normal. There’s something alive there that feels almost forgotten — real connection, sharing, true empathy. A way of being human you don’t learn, you feel. It was just one night, but enough to awaken something in me. A deep social experience that reminds you what truly matters. I left with that bittersweet feeling of losing something… but at the same time, feeling full. And with one promise to myself: I’ll be back, and next time I’ll stay longer.

I have nothing to point out

I loved staying there! Amazing team and guests and this is not just a place to stay but much more a place to connect with likeminded people and create memories. It really touched me how welcome I felt and it was like staying with good friends that you have known forever <3

The staff is super friendly They make you literally feel like at home. There is a working space as well, which I really appreciated. Beautiful garden and nice kitchen. On my stay a "Family Dinner" was organized by Pedro and Stefan : amazing food and company. This hostel was the positive surprise of my vacation .

My bedroom was a bit dark.This was not a problem though.

People make a place and Stefan, Pedro, Sophie and Yanna were truly excellent hosts and made a great trip truly memorable. The family dinners were such fun and great food!

Best hostel EVER ! Don't hesitate to book you accommodation there! Best breakfast, best family diners, best cats, best team <3 Can't wait for my next trip in the Azores to come back!

The ONLY point for improvement could be the Wifi in the dormitory. But honestly it helped me to take a break from screens haha!

Loving Strangers is not an accommodation like the others—it’s an experience. From the moment you arrive, you’ll feel welcomed like your already part of a big family, with whom you’ll surely share unforgettable moments. If you’re lucky, you might get to enjoy a delicious meal prepared by your hosts with the other guests, or end the evening gathered around the fire. I absolutely loved my experience, and my only regret is not having stayed longer.

Die Lage des Hostels ist super. Vom Hafen sind es etwa 15 Minuten zu Fuß. Jeder wird herzlich begrüßt und wird z.b. mit gemeinsamen Essen (Frühstück und Abendessen) sofort integriert. Loving Strangers ist nicht nur der Name der Unterkunft, sondern wird an diesem Ort auch gelebt. Die Betten sind super stabil und machen keine Geräusche wenn man sich bewegt. Durch die Vorhänge, hat jeder ausreichend Privatsphäre und die Schließfächer bieten genug Platz um alle Dinge weg zuschließen.
