Tropic Playa Apartments

Location is good, 10 minutes walk to the beach, 5 minutes walk to restaurants and 5th avenue. The balcony is small but great for breakast. Functional kitchen. Good communication with hosts.

We were in condo 202. Condo 102 right below has an outside space with private pool. The rules are clear (quiet between 20h00-08h00)… but it echoes a lot… and the people in 102 were extremely loud. To be fair the hosts eventually took care of the situation. Would stay again but at an upper floor.

Bright rooms with nice furniture, comfortable beds and bathroom. Clean and modern atmosphere.

When we arrived the apartment was not serviced. You have to make sure to be on Wifi to get the codes from the landlords. We were lucky to have nighbours help us out to get in after a long flight. In our apartment there was no table to have dinner, either any furniture on the balcony although we had asked for it several times, just some bar-like chairs in the kitchen. So we could not have meals at a table, neither work from the apartment. The most critical thing is the traffic being really noisy as well as the dogs next to the house, barking especially loud at night. There are more spacious apartments with bedroom to the backyard, but we could not switch during our 13day long stay… When again in Playa, we will definitely stay somewhere else.

Location is decent.

Let me shed some light on this wonderful apart-hotel that for some reason gathered a bunch of glowing reviews, despite being noticeably more expensive that the market average, having dated and basic interior and facilities, zero customer focus and a closed well with a bunch of construction garbage for a view. It's a self check-in, and the person at the "reception" doesn't speak English and has no clue about anything. So if you don't have all the details (for example, due to almost complete lack of internet access in Mexico), you won't really get in. So make sure you get all the details beforehand, don't expect any assistance on site. But that's just a beginning to get you started. On top of that, there's almost no sound proofing - so you get to enjoy loud mexican television if some of the local residents decide to relax at the TV *late* at night. And believe you me - they WILL. But what you really should prepare for is that one day there simply may not be *running water* at the place, and the host will do absolutely nothing to solve this - you're on your own. Which is exactly what happened to us - imagine coming to the apartment in the evening after beach with an intention of taking a nice long shower, just to find that all you get is a few residual drops from the shower head. Fantastic, isn't it? Ever tried washing up with some condensate from the dehumidified? Unforgettable holiday experience! Oh, and while the hosts are extremely polite and seemingly friendly, if anything (like above) goes wrong - they will not only do absolutely nothing to help, but will simply ignore you. Also, don't expect any compensation for your ruined holiday, there will be none, and the Booking.com's agents won't help you either - they will apologise and recommend leaving a review. So I'm doing just that - in a hope that YOU don't have to go through any of this.

Apartment is really specious with big, comfortable bed & it's very well equipped with all necessary items in kitchen, bathroom. There is a nice swimming pool at the top of the building. Communication with the host is on good level. We enjoyed our stay there.

Safe was not working and even tho we have communicated it to the host on the first day, the issue has not been fixed through the whole stay, so it was a bit uncomfortable to leave our personel items in the room.

Everything about this apartment is excellent. Quality bed linen, comfy king bed, quality towels, pillows and furnishings. Very quiet apartment in a good location close to everything. Immaculately clean and nice calming neutral colours. Self check in and checkout was perfect and the condo manager was very helpful and polite and spoke perfect English. I highly recommend this new and comfortable apartment.
