Herbert Hampden Cottage

Warm welcome, fresh eggs from the free range chickens and some delicious treats waiting for us in the cottage. Great hospitality, comfy bed and everything is in the cottage what you need for a perfect stay. Loved the location, quiet and peaceful. Close to al the special places in the area.

First we thought no flushing toilet but when you used to it, all good and no smell at all.

Great location for exploring either side ...up to Oamaru or down towards Dunedin. Lovely location and beautiful scenery. Peaceful spot away from life's business. Cottage had everything needed. Fabulous hosts, warm and helpful. Highly recommend.

Andy & Julz were extremely helpful, accommodating and wonderful. They have created a wonderful, homely little accommodation which we thoroughly enjoyed. It was a pleasure to be your guests. We would stay with you again anytime and thank you for allowing us to be your guests...

Liked how clean it was, with a great outlook. Loved the choice of dishes,linen etc. the little extras like the pink roses, and chocolate bar by the bed. It was small but not too small. Very well done! Beats a motel hands down and better value. Highly reccommend. The hosts were very welcoming and easy to deal with.

took a bit to get use to Swedish toilet and small hand basin. But okay! Just had to get use to them.

We received a wonderful welcome from our hosts, who had already given us great advice about where to stop and see fur seals on our way there. The bedroom is a good size and the living area/kitchen also. It's in a peaceful location, convenient for coastal sightseeing away from tourists.

The toilet/shower area is a bit cramped, but the shower was excellent! The turning off the main highway is hard to spot, and with traffic following close behind it's easy to overshoot
