Areef Homestay Kaledupa

The room was comfortable, food was good and the hosts were able to organize lots of activities and help with our onward travel.

Very homely, newly built rooms in their house over water, super comfy bed and linen, very clean, hammocks and plenty space to “lounge around”. So close to Hoga Island for day trips with Ari to snorkel or dive on amazing reef (I have been lucky enough to visit many reefs throughout Indonesia and this is right up the top). Ari and Julie are so welcoming and eager to please, you feel like part of the family. Julie is a wonderful cook and can cater for any diet but you won’t miss out! We loved our visit and highly recommend discovering this less visited end of Sulawesi, you won’t regret ❤️

My friend and I stayed here and had a wonderful time. Areef and his wife were wonderful hosts, and helped take care of all our requests and also helped us plan and do a trip to Tomea for two days, which we had not intended at first. He also went out of his way to help with our transport to Bau Bau. We felt very much at home at his place in particular, but also in Ambeua village in general. Highly recommend his place if you are planning to visit Kaledupa

La chambre était confortable et grande. La nourriture bien cuisinée par notre hôtesse. Le snorkeling organisé par notre hôte était superbe c'est un très bon guide,qui nous a mis en confiance.La comptabilité est très bien organisée à L'IDR près !

Prévoir des bouchons d'oreilles pour les coqs du voisin,les sanitaires sont éloignés de la chambre petit escalier à descendre et à monter.

This is a wonderful homestay, located right on the sea at the end of a quiet street. It's a real family home. The owners are extremely genuine and welcoming, and the wife/mother of the family is an excellent cook. You're ideally placed for excursions over to Hoga Island for diving and snorkeling, and for visits to the interesting Bajau village of Sampela a short boat ride away. I enjoyed my time there immensely and really hope I can visit again some day.

Personally, I wouldn't change a thing. I suppose some people might find the bathing/lavatory arrangements a bit basic.

We stayed one week in Areef Homestay and had a wonderful time. The homestay is a typical house on stilts settled in the mangroves and next to the jetty. It's a great occasion to live above the water as an immersion in the everyday life of the island ! The room is like new, nice and clean with a super hammock and place to stay outside and bathroom is the usual indonesian style, simple but clean. It can get noisy with the neighbours rooster in the morning and only wood panels between us but it's like everywhere in Indonesia, so bring ear plugs ! The owner speaks good english, he's very helpful for any enquiries and happy to show you his village and organize anything you need (pick-up, scooter rental, snorkeling trip etc). And, very important, his lovely wife is a great cook, the food is very generous and really yummy ! We would recommend and come back if our path leads us to Kaledupa again 😊
