Shark Island Guesthouse

Location and cleanliness.

.The stay was quite disappointing for several reasons. 1. The room had no air conditioning or fan, which made it very hot and uncomfortable. 2. The entrance stairs are poorly designed and open, which can be unsafe if you are not careful. 3. There was a power outage in Lüderitz on the day of our stay, which is understandable. However, the owner made no proactive arrangements for emergency lighting. Even after several reminders, a small battery-operated light was provided only after it had already become completely dark. Nearby accommodations seemed better prepared with standby generators and more responsive management. 4. Unfortunately, choosing this place negatively affected our trip experience. I would not recommend staying here

Rooms were good. Good location.

No power for 1 full day. No support by staff. No generators. Could not operate anything.

It was magic. Beautiful location and vety luxurious

Aucune vue mer directe car il y a un couloir vitré qui sépare la fenêtre de la chambre on ne voit rirn . Aucun extérieur . Pas de table !!! Alors qu’il y a tout pour cuisiner . J en ai demandé une , j attends encore . Il a fallu que je prenne les deux tables de nuit pour manger sur le lit Un labyrinthe d escaliers dangereux

Die Lage

Das Guesthouse hat ein Zimmer mit Meerblick. Mit einem Foto von diesem Zimmer werden auch die anderen Zimmer beworben, die allerdings sich in einem Hinterhaus befinden mit Fenstern zu einem Flur. Ich habe die Unterkunft nach Ankunft storniert und versuche den gezahlten Betrag zurück zu erhalten.

My brother in law was scammed our of R31000,00, We both received a message from "Booking. Com"to confirm our reservation at Shark Island Guesthouse :-or our booking will be cancelled. However the message was in afrikaans from an Emma Larsen from sharkisland.guesth Reservations. When you click on confirm, it brings up all our information i.e name, surname, check in date, check out dates including our booking nr. My brother in law clicked on confirm booking, he had to enter his banking details, there was R6O65 .deducted even though it said declined so he pressed confirm again and R25OOO wa deducted, it was reported straight away to booking. Com and once we arrived at Shark Island we reported it to them as well. We feel as it was b~oth these parties names involved, they should be resolving it between them. This was breach of POPIA as someone managed to get all our information off Booking.com system. I will never use Booking.com again nor will I recommend it to anyone. With regards to Shark Island Guesthouse, I asked the owner if there are braai facilities he said yes, when we checked in and I asked the son where the braais are, there is only one in their house..... how do guests braai in someone's house. The place we stayed was really small, the one dishcloth smelled like urine. I could not wait for my check out date. At times when other guests checked checked checked in they were asking if there are staff because when they knock no one opens. My husband knocked on the windows till someone came to attend to the other guests.
