Agriturismo Verde Oliva

A very relaxing stay in a rustic apartment overlooking the hills of the owners’ olive farms. The atmosphere is very beautiful and quiet if you are looking to get away from the city. We were greeted kindly by Luca and were given recommendations for local restaurants and how to get around which was very helpful! There were lounge chairs outside to relax in. The accommodations were pretty clean and had breakfast snacks for us. As far as transportation, we had rented a car and found a parking garage right outside of Florence’s ZTL zone within a 30 min drive that we utilized for when we wanted to go to the city, which was easy enough.

The hosts were very friendly. When we had a flat tyre, they were incredibly helpful. The location was beautiful and so peaceful. There was free parking 15 minutes away just by the bus stop to Florence, so you could just leave your car there as long as you wanted and hop on the bus.

I found access in and out of the property very tricky with a large car. It took longer than we expected to get to and from Florence city centre by car then bus. The buses were 45 minutes apart in the evenings, so we didn't get back until very late if we stayed on to have an evening meal there.

The host was great and always there if we needed anything .. it was the most relaxing spot even though it meant a 20 minute drive to Florence.

Christina was a lovely host and the location was beautiful. We had the entire apartment to ourselves, with a working kitchen; It looked exactly like the photos. Our shower wasn't working so Christina upgraded us to the 3-bedroom house next door for no extra cost which was gorgeous. She provided a lot of support in terms of driving us to the local market on the Sunday when we had no food and no shops or transport links. Christina also provided some breakfast pastries, home grown grapes and wine etc. She helped answer all of our questions and gave us space to enjoy the holiday alone. Would highly recommend if you can drive.

The location was the only downside, we read that there were frequent buses from other reviews but that wasn't true. The buses don't run on Sundays and they are very infrequent so if you miss one you have to wait an entire hour for the next. The last bus returning home is also 7-8pm so you can't miss it unless you want to spend €50+ on a taxi which means you miss out on the nightlife in Florence. Also the buses themselves were a nightmare to get as the bus drivers refuse to let you validate your ticket at the front which can result in you getting wrongly fined like with us. Be warned and bring a pen with you always to write the date, time and bus number where the stamp would go if this happens to you.
