The Marchmont Residence

the area was attractive, very close to the university and park, short walk to shops, bars/restaurants and old town. Apartment itself was very comfortable and clean.

Entrance hall could do with redecoration and, although no problem for us, the stairs could be an issue for anyone who has mobility issues.

The apartment was in a good location for walking into the city center and it was spacious. The beds and linen were clean, the en-suite shower room was modern and clean.

The entrance to the stairs was very off putting as all the walls had peeling plaster work. Each level was the same very drab paintwork and needed maintenance. The separate bathroom was in need of renovation-basin taps hard to turn and the shower hose needed replacing. One of the large windows in the lounge was open at the top and would not close which caused a draft when sitting in there. The main drawback was the acrid smell that was coming from the fridge-the fridge itself appeared clean and empty but on opening the door the smell filled the kitchen and we had to put our food in bags as the smell transferred the items.

Tony was very accommodating, we were able to check in earlier as we had an early morning flight. The information about the stay was perfect.

The area and the apartment was overall nice

The cleaner needs to vacuum under the beds and sofa. And the entrance hall was a bit daunting at first.

Proximity, location, cleanliness & quiet

A few more pillows, face washers,small amt milk & soap would have been good

The apartment was well-decorated, well-equipped, comfortable, and very clean. Two bathrooms a definite advantage.

The three flights of spiral stairs to climb, particularly for the two disabled members of our party. A handrail on the wide side of the stairs would have helped enormously. The quilts were too small, which resulted in an unsettled sleep. As all street parking is for permit-holders, some directions to a car park would have been helpful.

Located well

The door lock is defective and would not open The host wouldn’t bother to help . Just said that “ be patient and manipulate and it will work “ I was scared to go out as it took 20 minutes to open and was worried that if we come back it may not open

Clean, quiet, comfortable and convenient. Property manager was amazing - so responsive and accommodating. Would recommend and would definitely stay here again.

Location was as expected but it would have been good to know there was long term road works as it was not a favorite location for cab drivers to go. Apparently it had been going on for 18 months in the area.

The door was really hard to open. I couldn't get it open at all only my colleague managed to get it to work and luckily on two occasions of trying to get in there were other tenants coming out of the building who can let us in. Its a shocking entry and should be changed. Host berated us at the end for checking out late when in our arrival instructions we had approval to... not sure if they got us mixed up with someone else but after my reply to their rude message telling them this, they never responded again and just arranged for the bond to be repaid. Very poor and surprising behaviour. Property would not suit someone who cannot carry luggage upstairs as it is 3 flights of concrete stairs up.

The flat is lovely, very spacious and well equipped

The flat is on a third floor and there's no lift which is important to know if people travel with heavy suitcases or have limited mobility
