This is one of those big old apartments that some management company cut up into smaller guest rooms with two shared bathrooms. Even this configuration appears old enough to have some normal wear and tear. It's only one level above ground level, but that's around some uneven, worn stairs that aren't well lit. I never saw staff and only heard a tenant or two heading for the WC. The bed was big, but only okay. The heater in the room seemed to be all on or all off, but I just kept the window open (note: no flyscreens) and enjoyed the UK spring air. It's very close to Haymarket Station.

I believe it's billed as having a shared kitchen, but it's just a fridge and coffee maker in the room and, out in the hall, a microwave. No other kitchen facilities exist. See above about the uneven, dark stairs. I don't recall seeing any air-conditioning.

Very good location, near Haymarket and above a convenience shop. One flight of stairs up to the rooms. Comfy, 2 nice shared bathrooms for 5 or 6 rooms, which I never found occupied. Great value as it was quite inexpensive and felt fairly safe. Nice old high ceilings and large window into the courtyard

Fairly strong spice smell from shops and restaurants. More in the hall that in the room itself

Near Haymarket Station so very easy to get to/from the airport. It's also not far to walk into Old Town. Edinburgh is expensive especially in high season so it is probably not bad value just a bit shabby. I did not realize that it was a few rooms in a building so you cannot leave luggage early as no one is there.

We stayed for 3 nights with my partner. The shared bathrooms were always clean, the room was also clean and had everything we needed. We felt safe. The location was also perfect.

The bed was not very comfortable.
