Seashell Villa Weligama

My family and I truly enjoyed our stay. We felt completely relaxed. The outdoor area is ideal for deep chats under the stars. The bathtub view is magical. You can enjoy a cozy bubble bath while gazing at the night sky. If you listen closely, you can even hear the gentle sound of the beach and the occasional train passing by, which is amazingly relaxing. The hosts were friendly and welcoming. You can buy fresh fish from the nearby market and cook it in the kitchen.Highly recommended.

Good location, not too far from the beach. Air conditioning in the bedrooms. It's a solid option if you're just looking for a place to crash while you explore during the day.

We were on a six week trip through Sri Lanka and looking for a nice place to relax. This wasn't a good fit for us. Several things that were listed were not actually available. No TV or washing machine, for example. When we asked about the washing machine, they offered to do our laundry for us...and then charged us for it when we had to follow up on it three days later. The couches in the living room are old and torn so not super comfy to sit on. The kitchen is basic but has everything you need to cook. Unfortunately, it's not sealed off from the outside so mosquitos are an issue, there and in the living room. We didn't end up cooking much anyway because the only place to eat is the table outside and there are no fans there so you have both the mosquitos and the flies to contend with.

We spent four amazing nights at this beautiful villa and honestly, it was a highlight of our trip! The villa is located in a peaceful local neighborhood, and every time we walked by, the neighbors greeted us with the warmest smiles. The place itself is really quiet: you can just sit back, relax, and listen to the birds singing all around. One of my favorite parts was the stunning bathroom: I absolutely loved taking showers under the open sky, especially at night with the stars overhead. Such a unique and calming experience! The villa is spacious, has a large garden, and even comes with air conditioning, which was a big plus. Mendis, the owner, is absolutely lovely. He even gave us our first surfing lessons: such a cool experience! On our last day, when we needed to get to the airport, he kindly let us check out late, which was a huge help. This place is a gem: peaceful, beautiful, close to the beach, and surrounded by kind-hearted locals.

We had such an amazing stay at Seashell Villa in Weligama! From the moment we arrived, the owner made us feel incredibly welcome, he gave us so many great recommendations for the area and even took the time to give us surf lessons, which were absolutely amazing. The villa had everything we needed. We loved that we could cook our own meals, and a special shoutout goes to the beautifully designed bathroom, half open-air, which gave such a unique, tropical vibe. The location was also perfect. Tucked in a local neighbourhood, it felt super authentic and peaceful, but still just a short walk from the beach and Weligama town. Being surrounded by locals really added to the experience. Honestly, everything was just perfect. Would absolutely recommend and hope to come back one day!

5 minute Tuk Tuk ride to the beach. Lovely beach nearby with lots of places to eat/ beach clubs with pools/ great surfing for the children. Outdoor bathroom is lovely. Loved having a bath looking up at the stars. Nice outside area for sitting out.

Not quite as advertised - listing says washing machine, TV, dishwasher, however none of these things were actually in the property. Not that we desperately needed those things but made it seem it would more luxury than it was. I would suggest just removing these things from the listing. The kitchen could do with a door as it’s not closed off to the outside so lots of mosquitos coming in.

I liked the villa a lot. It is located in a very quiet surrounding where locals live and very close to the nature, so you can live like real Sri Lankan. Very authentic. It has very nice garden where it is very pleasant to drink morning coffee, chill out, eat fruits. Monkeys, peacocks and mongooses may visit you there. Villa has all needed for pleasant stay, 2 air conditioned bedrooms, and very nice open air bathroom. Villa is not on the beach but renting the bike you’re 1-5 mins pleasant drive from all the local beaches and attractions. Or 5-10 mins walk. The hosts family live nearby and arrange all needed for the stay. Villa clearly up, bike rent. Also Mendis is one of the best surf instructors in Weligama so surf lessons can be arranged.
