USMestizo Antigua Cortijo is a stunning rustic retreat nestled at the foot of a volcano in Antigua Guatemala. The landscaping is breathtaking, creating a serene and picturesque atmosphere perfect for relaxation. The architecture blends modern spacious interiors with traditional elements, giving the hotel a unique and inviting charm. The King Deluxe room was exceptionally comfortable, offering ample space and a well-designed layout that enhanced our stay. However, despite the beauty and comfort of the place. The overall experience was still very enjoyable thanks to the hotel’s natural beauty, spacious rooms, and tranquil setting. With a little more attention to detail and maintenance, this place could easily be a top-tier destination in Antigua Guatemala.
There were some details that could use more attention. For instance, the breakfast options were limited and not all what was listed on the menu, which was a bit disappointing. Small but essential amenities, like wine openers, wine glasses, or even basic drinking glasses, were missing from the rooms—things you’d expect in a hotel of this caliber. Additionally, the pool area seemed neglected; the bottom paint was chipping, and upon arrival, we noticed cushions scattered around instead of neatly arranged, requiring us to ask staff to tidy up.
What I Loved: - Stunning Views: The hotel offers breathtaking views of the surrounding volcanoes, which made for a picturesque and serene setting. - Beautifully Maintained Grounds: The landscape is impeccably groomed, adding to the overall charm and tranquility of the place. Cleanliness: The hotel is very clean, which made my stay comfortable and pleasant. - Comfortable Bed and Bedding: The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the bedding was of high quality, ensuring a good night's sleep. Polite and Attentive Staff: The hotel employees were very polite and attentive, providing excellent service throughout my stay. Areas for Improvement: - Limited Food Options: The food options were quite limited, which was a bit disappointing given the otherwise high standards of the hotel. - Shower Handle Issues: The shower handle temperature was backwards and positioned opposite from the shower entrance, which was inconvenient and confusing. - Weak Coffee: Despite Guatemala being known for its great coffee, the hotel served the weakest coffee I've ever had, which was a letdown. Overall, Hotel Mestizo Cortijo is a wonderful place to stay with some room for improvement. The stunning views, well-maintained landscape, and excellent service make it a great choice, but addressing the food options, shower handle, and coffee quality would enhance the experience even further.
Staff was awesome but it was noisy from traffic RIGHT outside our room and there was inconsistent hot water. It is a beautiful space but bring earplugs and be prepared to take tepid showers. Also there is no free breakfast for the price and there should be… even coffee and a muffin would be nice. Javier the concierge made our stay otherwise wonderful! His service and attentiveness was stellar!
This is a beautiful hotel. There is air condition. The service was amazing from the staff. They provide a shuttle but one day out of our four days it was not available. Within walking distance to a plaza with food and shopping. The free breakfast was very tasty and you get a variety of items to choose from.
USOverall it’s a new location and it’s technically not in Antigua but in an adjacent city called Viena. The property itself doesn’t feel like a hotel but a wedding venue. There are rooms appear to be unfinished. The room itself is okay but it’s next to the main road (literally can hear everything on the road)
Everything on the website appeared to be like a “big surprise” to the hotel staff. On the official website, it says it offers shuttle service etc but apparently the hotel concierge knew nothing about it. They had to “call” to confirm EVERYTHING.
USBeautiful hotel. Close to everything. The view is truly special. :)
was classic atmosphere and enjoyed very much the breakfast. However due to the room was very close to the main street, was a bit noisy early morning
