Hotel Casablanca Tuxtla

Flexible check-in and storage luggage. We were allowed to wait in the lobby until we headed for our night bus which was extremely helpflu as it was raining heavily

The atrium or central hallway of the hotel is genuinely lovely but sets a standard the rest of the experience can't quite live up to, though it's by not entirely terrible. The wifi is solid, the water gets hot, and it's quiet at night which helps with getting a good sleep. It's also well located on the central square, though it's actually nearby Parque de la Marimba that is the more bustling and welcoming at night.

Cleanliness is the big issue, as there was a dead cockroach in the middle of the bathroom when I arrived (though I didn't spot any live ones) and an abandoned cigarette tucked beside the top of the bed. The towels and sheets were also threadbare and had some holes in them though appeared well cleaned so shrugs on that. More problematic was the bed, which is thin and placed on a concrete structure and was the hardest I've ever used. Like lying on a carpet hard.

Late check in

Rude reception staff, unusable shower due to moldy plaster peeling off the walls and ceiling, towels with holes in them, dead bugs in the room, a bathroom door that won't close, a noisy fan. Everything was gross

the location is great and right in the centre, great wifi connection

room is a bit small and the sink looker broken

The indoor garden in the hall is lovely. The shower was nice and hot. good location

the rooms are basic - beds are quite hard. one night one of the hotel staff was playing a movie really loud and it kept us awake most of the night.
