The hammock outside the hut.

It was far too hot in the hut and therefore sleep was elusive. The heavy water container was left on the floor, with the tap at the bottom, so I had to lift it onto a table to open the tap. The electric rings came up with a faulty code, so I was unable to make a hot drink. There were lots of moths hiding in the bedding, which was obviously not great! It was NOT good value for money.

Super-basic off-grid lovliness in a beautiful location

We had an amazing weekend. The location is idyllic and we loved the hens! The hut is really well thought out, cosy, comfy and great outside space too. We used both beds and the top one is more comfortable than the sofa bed, but we both slept well. Communication was prompt and helpful from start to finish as well as a personal hello to make sure we had everything. The toilets and showers were clean and easy to access. The food at wood fire camping was delicious and they were very welcoming and friendly. We did one of the walks in the book and thoroughly enjoyed it. The weather was on our side and we wished we could have stayed for longer. Thank you so much.

Leaving

We arrived at 10pm and struggled to find it in dark. there was no main light only a little table light in the far corner. My son slept in the bed and I sleep on sofa with no bedding even though I booked a twin.it was freezing cold. Toilet was in the car park in dark which is not good at my age. It was a disaster, very disappointing to think I paid more money to stay here than the place we stayed in on Friday night which was by far better.

We absolutely loved our stay in the shepherds hut. The staff we met when needed were friendly and helpful but we were also left to enjoy the hut and feel as though we were out in nature. The wood burner was so cosy and the beds were warm and comfy. We only stayed one night but it was enough to totally recharge before stepping back into reality.

There is nowhere like Graffham to feel at one with the countryside. Great views, great walks and great pubs. And the Shepherds Hut is a cosy haven nestled in the middle of it all. Get away, get here. 😁
