Anne Hillside Apartment

We needed an accomodation that would allow us to comfortably spend one night after arrival by plane on Mahe and departure by ferry to Praslin the next day. Anne Hillside Apartment was perfect for that because of the proximity to Victoria’s city centre and Cat Cocos Berth (30 minutes by foot - no need for a taxi). The apartment had everything we needed - a comfortable bed, well-equipped kitchen, a bathroom, air-conditioning and a reliable and fast wi-fi connection. The host and hostess deserve recognition as well - they reached out after we booked a stay, the host was our taxi driver that took us from the airport to the accomodation and the hostess was a very warm, kind lady who welcomed us with a cool dessert made of avocado and ice-cream. We arrived exhausted after a long flight and apprehensive of what would await us in Seychelles and Anne Hillside was an accomodation that reassured us that our trip to Seychelles will be a safe and carefree one.

It is located uphill („hillside” is in the name not without a reason), so returning from the city to the apartment is physically challenging. Near the apartment there are no bigger stores to buy food and no recommendable takeaways. There is one restaurant that was recommended to us by the hosts and it is one of the most recommended restaurants for authentic Creole cuisine in Victoria (its name is Marie Antoinette) but the prices there are moderately high, more than we wanted to spend on our first day. Having no affordable options around and being too tired to go anywhere far, we didn’t eat that day and went to sleep hungry.

Anne is such a big hearted host who goes out of her way to ensure you have brilliant stay!!!

More time on the island

We needed a 1 night stop gap between coming back from the other islands and needing to get to the airport for an early flight. This was great. We arranged for the hosts to collect us from the ferry port and they also acted as our taxi on the early departure as well for a reasonable fee. It is up a steep hill but once you are there you have a great view across Victoria and the port. Great location for a dinner at Marie Antoinette restaurant - 5-10 mins walk down the hill (and a slightly slower walk up!). The best food we ate during our 12 day stay in the Seychelles. The hosts kindly served us avocados from their garden and filled the fridge with nice nibbles for us too which was unexpected!

Anne was very friendly, they offered transportation from the airport. The apartment has a nice balcony with a view towards the port area. Comfortable bed.

The property is located on a steep hill. Walking there, especially with luggage, can be challenging. I walked to the port, which was okay, 30 mins.
