"Disappointing"

2.0

As the concept is meant to be a houseboat - this was interesting and being on the water was nice. You are able to take your dog - as long as it is small. The view and calmness very early in the morning were very pretty. There is a walking track right next to the boat, so you can go for long walks around the bay area, which is very pretty. The owner was very communicative and offered to bring clean towels during the stay. There are lots of restaurants and cafes to try and loud bars in the evening, if that is your thing.

The location made it appear that you were moored to a jetty or wharf in a bay area, so you assumed you were away from buildings and noise, but in reality, the wharf was 10 metres from a busy road that was lined with noisy restaurants, cafes and bars. This meant that it was very noisy until VERY late. The information given says there is soundproofing, but this is not true and there are no curtains, just tinted glass in the area where you sleep, so the neon lights and noise both permeate. Also, as it is a boat, the bathroom had restrictions. Generally, you are able to bathrooms on boats normally but with special toilet paper, but when we arrived, we were told we could ONLY urinate in the toilet. This meant we had to leave the wharf to go across the road to the public toilet which is used by the restaurants and cafes in the area, which was not the most pleasant bathroom and was VERY inconvenient. This should be advertised BEFORE you book! The bed is a fold-down vinyl lounge, which is not comfortable at all. There are no sheets, just blankets and no pillows. (luckily I always take my own). The kitchenette that is advertised has 1.5 plastic plates and 2 sets of chopsticks - no knives and minimal other things. We didn't try to use any of the kitchenette as we needed that surface for our own things as there is nowhere for your own stuff/no surfaces. It is tiny and has very little space to actually move around - you need to turn sideways to move past the couch! Our poor dog had little space to even sit, so if taking your dog, it really needs to be tiny - like less than 5kgs, but this means you really need to keep the doors closed, as it could escape and fall into the water! We had no hot water - we did all of the things the owner suggested, but it didn't work. We called and tried more than one time - but I am sure the owner would have come to help us if we really persisted.
