Tranquil Bambusic Bliss

The location is very convenient, just a short walk through a scenic village to the Orchid Garden. The place itself is unique, built in the traditional way using bamboo and mud. The food is freshly prepared, delicious, and comes in generous portions. They also offer authentic local dishes such as bamboo rice, mashed banana, and bamboo shoot dishes. The stay is simple yet full of unexpected delights. The host couple, Chandana and Prabhat, are incredibly friendly and helpful. They have extensive knowledge about local activities, transportation, and the surrounding area and can give you advice that suits your need. If you're looking for a more immersive community experience, this is definitely a place where you get more than what you pay for!

TBB is set in a delightful village so you get a good sense of village life - lots of baby pigs, chicks, families coming and goings. It is only a 15 minute walk along back paths to the Orchid Park - must do. The owner kindly invited me to join a family party which was the highlight of my stay and would not have been possible if I'd stayed at a hotel. Lots of dancing, fun and games. A wonderful experience.

The accomodation advertises and is priced for the availabilty of a shower but in fact, washing is done from a bucket of water that takes 40 minutes by the owners immersion coil to heat up. Very hard bed. No kettle as advertised. After travelling through Assam for a month, comparing facilities and price, I would suggest TBB is overpriced.

If you're looking for a warm quiet place to stay a few days, away from the hussle at the mainstreet, then you're on the right spot. Prahbat and sundanza just give you a warm welcome and make you feel at home. They invited me to a community party during Bihu, the national festival of Assam. Also an ideal place to wander through the village, surrounded by tea plantations and lush green hills. Definitely to recommend!

The huts are charming - simple and comfortable. There is a spacious common area, perfect for visiting with the hosts or other guests. The hosts are very warm, welcoming and friendly; always ready to help, provide or chat. They clearly put a lot of care and heart into this (still fairly new) undertaking. I felt truly cared for (after arriving ill) and had a wonderful time at the village festival. This is not just a business for this hardworking young couple but a labor of love. I hope to return someday.
